⭐️TIME TO FIRE THIS THING BACK UP AGAIN⭐️

It's been every bit of 18 months since I released the last Aidan Meets Interesting People Podcast. In short, they are 1) very time consuming to put together and 2) the files are so extremely large my poor computer couldn't handle them anymore (I'm talking 100's of gigabytes per episode)!

Excuses aside......it's time to relaunch!

As I look back at the previous episodes, I have had some great chats with some great guests who all took time out of their schedules to humour my want to build a podcast, so I owe it to them to keep going. Over the next few weeks, I'll be reposting and highlighting some of these episodes so if you haven't seen/heard them, give them a listen while you wait for the new episodes to be released!

Yep, I did a podcast with Paul and you should definitely listen to it, but this post is just pure appreciation.....

Think about what you were doing 8 days ago. Think about everything you've done since. All of it. Probably worked 40 hours or so, slept 60 hours, maybe been to the Folkie for three days, or gone away for the long weekend.

Since last Monday morning, Paul Watkins has been walking through the icy depths of Sweden as part of the Montane Lapland Arctic Ultra, a 500kms self-supported footrace over frozen lakes, up icy mountains and through frozen forests. He's been pulling a sled with all his sleeping gear, clothes and food. For most of it, he's been by himself. Want some idea of how far that is? Start in Warrnambool and walk to Geelong. Then keep going to Werribee. Then head up to Ballarat. Then walk back to Warrnambool again. Now do it in the snow....at temps of -20. Pulling a wagon with everything you need for the 8 days.

And he's finished it! He's bloody done it.

190 hours of pulling that sled, sleeping in the snow and eating meals on the move. Nothing, but doing what it takes to cover the distance.

YEAH, LONG WEEKEND!! If you're out in the car heading for a drive this long weekend, stick Paul Watkins in your ears (No swearing, so good for the kids too!). Paul is currently 320kms into a 500km race through Sweden, hitting temperatures of -20, horribly cold winds and he's battling a German man called Stefan who doesn't look like he wants to let Paul win!

How did a guy from Warrnambool find himself in this position? How, when your body hurts and your motivation is in the pits, do you get up and train?

NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!

What a time to bring you the newest episode of the podcast. Paul Watkins has completed the 'small loop' (a very not small 180kms) and has seemingly just started out on the 'big loop', the final 320kms in the Montane Lapland Arctic Ultra! I'd love to hear what you think of the podcast, so please let me know!

Paul Watkins is a self-described "nerdy Dad, of average height and poor eyesight....much closer to Harry Potter than Bear Grylls". So how does a Harry Potter-esque guy from Warrnambool find himself in -30° in the Arctic Circle, leading a 600kms footrace? A few weeks ago, I sat down with Paul Watkins - a guy that I first came across when he was about to embark on the 6633 Arctic Ultra. As I watched his progress in the race online, I've never been so enthralled by a tracking dot moving at walking speed through the Arctic Circle. For over 600kms, Paul marched across ice and snow, eating when he ate, sleeping when he slept. I would go to bed, wake up to find Paul had marched 40+kms. While I was working, he was still walking. How does a guy from Warrnambool find himself pulling a sled in -30° through the Arctic? How does he get out of bed every morning and train when I can't even motivate myself to put my running shoes on?
