A lot can change in a relatively short period of time....
2.5 years ago life was different.
I was working four days a week in a butcherās shop in Warwick, doing physical long 9-hour days for just $25 an hour. And because that wasnāt enough, so I started a cleaning biz on the side working two extra days a week just to help cover our bills.
Iām actually a qualified optical dispenser and worked in the industry since I was 16. Iām 43 now. But after we moved from the Sunshine Coast out to Warwick so Charlotte could change schools in 2022, I just did whatever I could to support my family.
Iāve always been a working mum.
My two older kids grew up in daycare and vacation care because one income was never really enough.
And like so many families, we were always working and constantly missing the special moments with our kids.
When our beautiful surprise baby, Aubrey, came along in 2020, I thought things might be different. I wanted to stay home, but we couldnāt afford it. So, I went back to work because thatās all I knew.
But deep down, I craved more.
More time. More flexibility to work around my family. And more income.
I wanted space to breathe, and time to enjoy my life, my family, and my horses.
Then one day, I had my line in the sand moment....
I was out feeding our horses after a huge day of running around.
Work, dropping my son to his apprenticeship, school and daycare drop offs and pickupsā¦I was tired, teary, and felt burnt out.
And I remember thinking....
āThere has to be more to life than this.ā
I remember strolling up the laneway out at our agistment with a cart full of horse feed and aimlessly scrolling Facebook, and a post popped up....
It spoke about earning an income online and creating more time freedom.
And something in me lit up.
It gave me hope.
So, I reached out to Carmen to find out more about it.
I joined a FB group, watched a masterclass and then did absolutely nothing!
9 months passed by....
And life has a funny way of circling back when youāre meant to move.
Weād just gone through our big move to Warwick, I was working six days a week, and one day I found myself going over our expenses unsure how to bridge the gap between what was coming in and what was going out.
And then, right on cue, I got a message from Carmen who's now my mentor.
She invited me to join a two-day masterclass.
This time, I said yes. Because I was now more scared of staying stuck than I was of trying something new.
So, I showed up.
I watched it all.
I learned what it was really about.
Digital marketing, high-ticket products, mentorship, strategy.
I asked a million questions.
I was still scared. But this time I was ready.
That masterclass gave me the information I needed to make a new decision.
Because when we know better, we can choose better.
I started my own online business.
In my first 9 months, I ranked up to 4A and hit our first leadership level, I created over $80K in sales volume and more importantly, I started building something that could eventually give me back my time.
Iām not all the way there yet....
I still work my job.
But now Iām on the right path.
A path that gives me options.
A path that I chose.
