New South Western Standard Bulletin

New South Western Standard Bulletin A local paper, created by locals πŸ“° The β€œSTANDARD” was formed in 1979 by a group of volunteers following the closure of the local privately run newspaper.

Circulating in Wentworth, Curlwaa, Dareton, Buronga, Gol Gol, Pomona, Palinyewah, Pooncarie and the rich grazing and agricultural districts of the Murray, Lower Darling and Anabranch. A grant was obtained from the NSW Education Department to purchase a stenograph and several teachers used their typewriters. Production later moved to computers (donated) and printed commercially in a neighbouring to

wn. Transport of copy and return the following day of the printed pages was conducted by security firm on a voluntary basis. A retired photographer volunteered photos of local events, supplied on disk. Another group of volunteers assembled the pages and prepared mail outs for subscribers and delivery to various distribution points around the region. In 2018 a succession planning meeting was held to discuss the future operation and various changes were agreed to.
