Sunday used to be the worst day of my week. That slow sinking feeling from about 3pm onwards, knowing what Monday looked like.

These days Sunday is just Sunday. Walks, dog, good coffee, bit of planning for the week ahead.

Took me 17 years to learn there was another way to do this. Better late than never.

I flew to Japan on my own.

While I was standing at the airport, I spotted a complete stranger wearing something I recognised instantly.

She’s building the same business as me.

We’d never met.

Different team. Different mentors.

She lives in country NSW. I live in regional Victoria.

Somehow we ended up standing in an airport in Japan comparing notes.

That moment stuck with me.

Because this isn’t just one person getting lucky. It isn’t one team or one loud corner of the internet.

It’s ordinary women, from ordinary places, quietly building something that gives them more choice over how they spend their time.

I was standing at an airport in Japan, thousands of kilometres from home, when I spotted a woman wearing something that made me stop.

I knew instantly.

She’s building the same business as me.

So I walked straight over and introduced myself. Total strangers.

Within minutes we were talking like we’d known each other for years.

And here’s the part that got me.

She wasn’t from LA. She wasn’t living the influencer lifestyle.

She was from country NSW.

Different team. Different mentors. We’d never crossed paths before.

Just two regional Aussie women who found the same vehicle and somehow ended up standing in an airport in Japan comparing notes.

It hit me right then.

It’s easy to write one person off as an exception. It’s a lot harder when you meet someone you’ve never met before who’s doing exactly the same thing.

This isn’t one team. It isn’t one loud mentor.

It’s ordinary women quietly building something that gives them more choices, more flexibility, and more control over their time.

I spent 17 years in aged care.

She had her own version of that story.

Two weeks in Japan. Solo. At 40.

The kind of trip I used to say “one day” about.

But it was never really about Japan.

It was about finally listening to the feeling I’d ignored for 17 years.

The feeling that I was capable of more than surviving.
More than showing up exhausted.
More than putting everyone else first while my own life sat on hold.

Nobody clapped for your 5am starts. Nobody saw what you carried on no sleep with bills due. You showed up anyway. Figured it out yourself. No plan B. No rescue coming.

I nearly waited.

After the trip. After things settle down. Maybe next month.

But here’s what I’ve learned: things don’t settle.

There’s always another reason. Another expense. Another “better time” that never actually comes.

The women I see winning right now aren’t the ones who waited until everything was perfect.

They’re the ones who started in the messy middle.

The opportunity I almost said “later” to is the reason I just spent 14 days in Japan, running my business from my phone.
