18 years ago, Marry Me won Tropfest.

On 17 February 2008, Michelle Lehman’s short film took home First Prize at what was then the world’s largest short film festival.

Shot over two weekends on a Panasonic Varicam in 720p, made with handmade costumes, childhood memories, and a dedicated team just beginning their creative journey — the film went on to reach millions online and continues to be used in classrooms as an example of short film storytelling.

With Tropfest returning this Sunday for the first time in years, we’ve shared a reflection on the making of Marry Me and what that moment shaped for Conti Bros Films.

As a company, we have always tried to remain software agnostic, and this approach has seen us transition more than once from one editing or compositing application to another.

A quick catch-up on what we've been up to these past couple of months.

It was great to be back in Melbourne shooting the Launch Campaign for the new sports apparel company, No Timid Souls. Shooting both stills and motion, we teamed up with stills photographer Filip Konikowski to provide some great content for the launch.

Episode 1 of our latest 2-part documentary, "No Friend But The Mountains - A Voyage Through Song", premiers on ABC TV Plus tomorrow June 16, at 9 pm.

Following Australia's oldest community orchestra, this 2-part special event series offers an incisive look at the political and creative challenges behind the making of Australian composer Luke Styles’ latest work "No Friend but the Mountains: A Symphonic Song Cycle" (inspired by the award-winning book by Behrouz Boochani / translated by Omid Tofighian).

Produced by Aurora Films | Good Vibes Only, in association with Conti Bros. Films, Zelman Symphony, Wise Music and Arts Centre Melbourne.
