A short list of terminology associated with the processing of sandstone matrix.

TREATED … this is when the stone is cooked in sugar and water or oil and no acid is used in any process of treating

STABILISED….. this is when the stone is put into a vacuum chamber with a resin or a stablising agent that fill all the pores and cavities of the stone to be able to cut and polish.

* Pouring resin over a stone does NOT stablise them they are just coated unstable stones …..

NATURAL POLISH ….. this is where the stone has been stablised and cut back to be able to polish with no coating.

Short video on one of the many steps to getting a fully stabilised stone.
We took some of our hardest material and from around the area to showcase that sandstone matrix is a pouris stone and needs to be stabilised.
The bubbles coming out of the stone is a degassing a reducing process where all the hidden cavities are being filled.
A stone that has just been cooked and polished will break down over a period of time. We have tested this.
