Sarah Pilbeam—who goes by SarahVision—is a photographer and videographer, known for her work within the music scene. The art she produces extends into poetry and collage (she created the covers for this issue!) feels effortless, she sees a moment before it happens, and is always there to capture it in the most perfect way. I first met Sarah when she was floating around the warehouse taking photos of Hot Apple Band when they were recording. I instantly loved being in her presence, and told her I’d interview her for the next issue pretty much because I wanted to get to know her more. And I’m so glad I did. I met up with Sarah at a bar near her house in Melbourne—a perfect dark little cosy spot, where we pretty much just jumped straight into discussing in depth the ideas behind the theme of this issue, her practice and the way in which she rolls with it. Speaking with her was a real pleasure, and something I kept bringing up in the interview was that I was so glad that I interviewed her to show this perspective to you all. I think it’s so important to show that you don’t have to put pressure on yourself to be something, you can simply just be and create for the enjoyment, you don’t have to turn something you’re really good at into a career and I feel like it’s a perspective we all need to hear more often.
