SO OVER IT! I wanted a memorable DJ name. I accidentally created a spelling test. And when your DJ name needs its own soundcheck just to pronounce it, you know it’s time for a rebrand.

So after many years as DJ Amped Australia, it’s time for a change.

AMPT Australia

Pronounced AMPED.

Same DJ. Same energy. Same bloke behind the decks. Just a new name, new branding and a new logo.

And a tip for any DJs choosing a name: make sure people can actually say it, spell it and remember it.

Nicky & Vicky’s Wedding – Part 3

The final bit of preparation before heading off to the wedding.

I’ve just listened through to Nicky & Vicky’s first dance one more time and, honestly, the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stood up.

It still gives me goosebumps.

DJ TIP:
Never treat the first dance as just another song. Check the exact version, listen to it all the way through and know exactly how it needs to start. It’s one of those moments the couple will remember for the rest of their lives.

Being trusted to provide the music for such an important day really is a privilege.

Everything’s ready. Time to head to Bendooley Estate and be part of their special day.

Nicky & Vicky’s Wedding – Part 2

This is where the preparation really starts to come together.

I’m organising the music in Rekordbox around the wedding run sheet, putting the key songs in order and marking the times they’re needed throughout the night.

DJ TIP:
Don’t just make a playlist for a wedding. Build your music around the timeline of the day. Put the important tracks in order and make sure you know exactly when they’re needed.

Good preparation means less searching, fewer mistakes and more time to concentrate on the dance floor and the people in front of you.

Nicky & Vicky’s Wedding – Part 1

A little behind the scenes look at what happens before I even arrive at a wedding.

Today I’m preparing the music for Nicky & Vicky’s wedding at Bendooley Estate checking their special songs, organising playlists and making sure everything is ready for each part of their day.

DJ TIP: Never leave the important songs until the night. First dances, entrances and other special tracks should be downloaded, checked for quality and prepared beforehand. You only get one chance to get those moments right.

There’s a lot more to wedding DJing than turning up and pressing play.

One of the things I love about weddings everybody gets their moment.

I spun some old school rock & roll on for the grandparents and the older generation, but great music doesn’t really have an age. Before long, everyone’s getting involved.

And it turns out the drag strip isn’t the only place Joe Gauci knows how to put his foot down.

Usually he’s building and racing seriously fast drag cars. This time, the father of the groom was putting a few moves down on the dance floor instead.

Different generations, different eras, different music one dance floor. That’s what I love about weddings.

Bohemian Rhapsody Part Two.

And then the whole dance floor takes over.

Jonathan and Caitlin’s wedding was one of those nights where everyone was completely in the moment. Friends, family, bride and groom, all singing Queen at the top of their lungs.

As a wedding DJ, these are the moments I love. You can play the music, read the room and build the energy, but sometimes you just have to stand back and let the dance floor do the rest.

What a night.
