While the style and instrumentation of ‘70s Brit folk are touchstones on Senior’s new album, Pt. Roadknight, her disarming lyrics are fresh and wholehearted, wrestling with modern concerns of gentrification and isolation while finding solace in the quiet beauty of the Victoria surfcoast town where she lives.

Her fifth studio album, and first with Third Eye Stimuli, Senior explores her introspective, nature-loving side while honing the singular baroque psych folk that has captivated listeners around the world.

Today, French Pop auteur pulls the veil on her dazzling new record, 𝐕𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥—out now via Third Eye Stimuli in AU/NZ & everywhere else. Every so often in music, we come across voices that achieve a certain timelessness. Since the 1960s and 70s, voices like Françoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg and Margo Guryan have remained revered but not many contemporaries that have filled their shoes. Laure Briard is one of these voices carrying on the tradition of French Pop.

On her fifth studio album Voyage Mental, Laure Briard draws upon an inner energy unearthed during a new stage in her life, where the thrill of spontaneous adventure is not accessible in quite the same way. The album, nostalgic but always tethered to the present moment, is also the fruit of her collaboration with , a talented musician known for coaxing poetry out of the mundane. The two of them co-wrote and recorded five tracks accompanied by Briard’s long-time sidekick Pieuvre, aka Vincent Guyot, Léo Blomov, Pierre-Louis Vizioz, and Hedi Bensalem.

The 1960s cult American musician F.J. McMahon contributed his original composition “Golden Sun” and our very own Winter McQuinn makes a cameo on “Sentimental Lies”—a song originally written by McQuinn and arranged by Laure Briard and her troupe.

Moving from gentle pop and drifting ballads to sunlit folk, the album balances escapism and confinement. Cinematic imagery of open landscapes contrasts with urban claustrophobia, while themes of longing, nostalgia, and disconnection unfold through melancholic guitar, sparse piano, and uplifting, transportive arrangements.

The album is the fruit of Laure’s collaboration with  and another highlight is a duet “Golden Sun” featuring the 1960s cult American musician  who Laure contacted via the internet on a whim.
