It was originally established with the intention to help the wealth of talent from our local area, release their music to a wider audience. The label’s first signing was Hockey Dad, a Windang based duo who released their debut EP in November 2014, and have followed it up with two widely acclaimed albums ‘Boronia’, and ‘Blend Inn’. The label has grown as more local artists have joined the roster, i
ncluding The Pinheads, Totally Unicorn, TEES and Tropical Strength, with Bec Sandridge’s debut EP ‘In The Fog’ also being released via F&O. In May 2019, Bad//Dreems joined the Farmer and the Owl family, marking the first non-local artist to be signed. The Adelaide five piece released their third album, ‘Doomsday Ballet’, in October. Farmer & The Owl has now grown into a full label operation, with global partner BMG coming on board in late 2019 to assist in taking our artists to an international market. Though F&O has developed, our intention remains the same - to assist the artists that surround us, (now local & beyond), release their music to a wider audience. We also run the annual Farmer & The Owl Festival, with each line-up being co-curated by the label family. The next edition will be held on February 29, 2020 at McCabe Park in Wollongong, and features Hot Chip, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Sleaford Mods, Weyes Blood, The Murlocs, Alex Cameron, Miss June, Mom Jeans & many more. Previous additions to the lineup have included Beach House, Deafhaven, Joyce Manor, Snail Mail & others. As well as the label and festival, we have a DJ collective, Sultans Of Spin, who play festivals, gigs and events around our hometown and beyond. We also run a company called FO PAS, which handles publishing and sponsorship for a range of artists. Farmer & The Owl is operated by Ben Tillman (Yours & Owls partner) and Jeb Taylor (Music Farmers co-owner) while FO PAS is operated by Adam Smith (Yours & Owls partner) along with Ben & Jeb. Yours & Owls is a promoter of live music in the Illawarra and also runs an annual festival over the October long weekend in Wollongong. www.yoursandowls.com.au
