The Reed Flute Cave is located five kilometers northwest of downtown Guilin, on the southern slope of Guangmingshan Mountain in China. Presumably its age exceeds 1300 years.
According to an ancient legend, the Cave of the Reed Flute got its romantic name thanks to a peasant who accidentally found it when he was looking for reeds to make a flute. Judging by the fact that the cave is indeed surrounded by thickets of reeds, there is some truth in this.
The underground kingdom of the cave stretches for 500 meters and has a depth of 250 meters, making it one of the largest caves in China. Once in this place there was nothing but the ocean, which, due to natural changes, receded, leaving amazing rocks on the surface with outlandish gorges, grottoes and caves hidden in them.
Once in the depths of the Cave of the Reed Flute (it is also called the "Palace of Natural Arts"), her guest finds herself in the palace halls created by nature itself, the beauty of which literally leaves one speechless. Unusual sculptures of stalactites and stalagmites in the multi-colored glow of artificial lighting take on fantastic images.
The inner "gallery", decorated with fabulous statues, in our time was given the names "Pine in the Snow", "Dragon Pagoda", "Virgin Forest", "Flower Mountain", etc. One of the halls is called the "Crystal Palace of the Dragon King" , - 1000 people can fit here at the same time.
Due to the great popularity of the Reed Flute Cave among tourists, considerable attention is paid to its infrastructure and convenience: there are long garlands with many colored lights that give the cave halls a mystical charm, and a specially designed route through the most incredible corners of the dungeon.
