On December 16, 2009, at the White House, US President Barack Obama and NASA Director Charles Bolden discussed the prospects for the development of the US manned space program and the results of the work of the Augustin Commission[15]. On January 15, 2010, the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) released its annual report recommending continued work on the Constellation program. Augustin Commission
On June 1, 2009, a special Augustine Commission was created to study the state of affairs in the field of manned space flights conducted by NASA[12][13]. Norman Augustine, former director of Lockheed Martin, was appointed head of the commission. The tasks of the commission included consideration of plans to stop the flights of shuttles, completion of work with the International Space Station, return to the Moon, as well as possible alternative directions for the development of manned astronautics.
