On May 14, Ivan was killed as a result of a Russian attack. He once worked as a costume department assistant on Butterfly Vision and created, among other things, the wreaths for the wedding scene.

Ivan was an internally displaced person from the Luhansk region. He was 18 during the production of the film. He died at 25 — his entire adult life unfolded under the war initiated by Russia.

We extend our sincere condolences to Ivan’s family and loved ones. We are grateful for his contribution, work, and sensitivity.

The Ukrainian premiere of the short documentary “Homecoming” by Roman Khimei and Yarema Malashchuk will take place at Docudays UA within the non-competitive program “Strong Structures”.

The film explores a remote return to Zaporizhzhia after forced displacement caused by war — made possible through the control of a robotic dog from Warsaw.

This technological presence becomes a way to reconnect with the past and experience memory of home through a fragile video transmission.
