A little bit about the gorgeous new logo over at Love Shack Studios.

You might have spotted our new logo making a cheeky appearance ahead of the studio reopening and wondered where it came from…

The genius behind it is the incredible Steph Hughes – illustrator, musician and printmaker extraordinaire. Steph’s creative journey started with gig posters for her own bands and mates, and has since grown into a huge body of work with some of Melbourne’s most loved institutions: Triple R, Arts Centre Melbourne, Melbourne Museum, ABC, Golden Plains Festival, Oxfam, Reclink Community Cup… not to mention editorial illustrations, logos, maps, murals and iconic designs for Milk Records and countless local bands (including her own, the recently reunited Dick Diver).

Fun fact: our logo actually started out as artwork for Jess’ band Tender Buttons. But when it came time to give Love Shack Studios its look, we all agreed it was the perfect fit – playful, bold, cosy and electrified… just like us!

Huge thanks to Steph for creating a design that feels so at home here in the Shack. We couldn’t be prouder to show it off.

Did you know Love Shack Studio owner, sound engineer, multi-instrumentalist, DIY master and Yellow Lamington client Jess Bennett was a part of the Freaky Friday universe with their band Lash?

Yep, Take Me Away was written and performed by four Perth musicians!

With the upcoming release of Freakier Friday, there is going to be SO MUCH to share, but due to some issues facing folks travelling to the US, especially those proudly a part of the LGBT+ community, the Love Shack accounts have been temporarily deactivated as Jess prepares to head to LA for the movie premiere.

We’ll be sharing all the VERY exciting things there when we’re able, and until then, follow Lash on Instagram (link in comments), and cheer on our incredibly talented (and humble) client on this massive deal!

It’s been a minute. We’ve been quietly navigating the heartbreak of losing someone incredibly close to us - a sudden loss that’s shaken our world and our community deeply.

We want to thank our clients and friends at Our Hood Spotswood, Sass + Co. Body and Love Shack Studios for their compassion and understanding during this time. And to everyone who’s reached out, held space, or simply been there - thank you. Your kindness means everything.

By some miracle, past Liv planned a little break - only my second real holiday in over a decade - so I’ll be taking this grief somewhere warm, sunny and far away, with my bestie by my side. If things are a little quiet around here during July, that’s why.

Hug your people. Tell them you love them. Life is fragile.

Exciting news Spotty!

We’re SO excited to share that Spotswood Summer Sessions will be BACK - thanks to funding from Hobsons Bay City Council's ‘Make It Happen’ grant.

This summer we'll once again be turning up the energy and celebrating the best of Spotswood with live music, good food, smiling faces and that one-of-a-kind local spirit that makes our ‘hood so special. These sessions will not only bring the community together, but they help boost foot traffic and shine a spotlight on our amazing local traders and community.

We’re so grateful to Hobsons Bay City Council for helping us make this happen again - and we can’t wait to see you all there.
