❗️⚡️⚠️ The shutdown of two hydropower generators at Kyrgyzstan's Toktogul Hydropower Plant caused a blackout in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.

Report informs, citing Kazakh media, that the system operator of Kazakhstan's Unified Electric Power System, KEGOC, made the announcement.

According to the company, two hydropower generators with a combined capacity of 600 MW were shut down at the Toktogul HPP at 14:37 on August 14. This resulted in an overload of the North–East–South transmission line and the separation of the Southern Zone from Kazakhstan's Unified Electric Power System and the Central Asian Unified Power System, which includes Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

As a result, some consumers in Kazakhstan's Almaty, Zhambyl, Turkistan, Kyzylorda and Zhetisu regions were left without electricity. Power outages also affected the Karaganda, Ulytau and Abai regions.

According to the statement, KEGOC fully restored power supply to consumers in the Karaganda, Ulytau and Abai regions at 14:47 local time, in the Almaty and Zhetisu regions at 16:26, and in the Zhambyl, Turkistan and Kyzylorda regions at 16:34.

"The causes of the technological incident will be investigated by a special commission," the company said.

He made the remarks while commenting on prospects for energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Stepanyan said cooperation in the energy sector could become one of the strongest tools for strengthening interaction between the two countries and societies.

"This will not only contribute to this; I would say even more: in real everyday life, it will become one of the strongest tools for strengthening interaction between the two societies and the two countries," he said.

According to him, relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia are already developing in a positive direction.

The expert described the interconnection and synchronization of the energy systems as one of the first practical steps of a long-term nature.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is an infrastructure project rather than a territory or military base, and it does not envisage the presence of security forces from any other country, Armenian lawmaker Sarkis Khandanyan said, Report informs, citing Armenian media.

Khandanyan made the remarks while discussing his candidacy for chairman of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

"TRIPP is an infrastructure project. In general, there will be no security forces of any other country within TRIPP. As stated in the agreement, ensuring security has been entrusted to Armenia and the relevant authorities of the country," he said.

Khandanyan also addressed the process of opening regional communications, saying that it has already begun.

"Armenia has already been using Azerbaijani railways for several months, and the ban on using the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway has also been lifted. These are also details of the unblocking process," he said.

Since the end of the Patriotic War, starting from November 10, 2020, a total of 436 people have been killed or injured in mine explosions in Azerbaijani territories contaminated with mines by Armenia, Report informs, citing the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Of them, 73 people were killed and 363 others sustained injuries of varying severity.

"We regret to say that mine explosion incidents continue to occur in the liberated territories, causing deaths and injuries. For each such incident, the Prosecutor General's Office, together with relevant state bodies, takes the necessary measures and regularly informs the public," the statement said.

Azerbaijan's prosecution authorities are investigating each mine incident in strict accordance with legal norms, clarifying all circumstances of the incident, including the causes and conditions of the detonation.

"Eliminating the mine threat plays a key role in ensuring the safety of citizens in the de-occupied territories, restoring these areas and supporting the sustainable return of the population.

"We once again call on citizens and people traveling to these territories to use only designated safe routes and strictly follow warning signs and the recommendations of relevant state bodies," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
