Acting Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Department, Patrick Bryan, has clarified that the recent homicides at Thunder Bay had no connection to the dismantling of a structure on the property earlier today.

Mr.Bryan told Starcom Network News that the department was forced to act after the applicant failed to comply with procedures required for the er****on of the structure.

Up to news time, Starcom Network News has not received a response from the applicant.

This is the site of the major shooting that took place in April, resulting in a triple homicide.

Family and friends gathered at Taylor Land, Bank Hall, St. Michael, to celebrate a remarkable milestone as Joyce Carrington marked her 100th birthday.

The special occasion was attended by Member of Parliament Chris Gibbs and President, His Excellency Lt. Col. The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, who joined in honouring Barbados’ newest centenarian.

Reflecting on her life and the many changes she has witnessed over the past century, Ms. Carrington shared words of wisdom on the importance of guiding and supporting young people. She noted that while times have changed, the need for prayer, encouragement and positive direction remains important.

The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners is urging the public to take precautions as heavy Sahara dust affects air quality across the island.

A statement from the Ministry of Health, says Barbados is expected to experience worsening air quality over the next few days, due to significant dust plumes moving across the region.

President of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners, Dr. Lynda Williams, is especially encouraging people with respiratory illnesses to ensure they have their medication on hand.

Health and environmental concerns at Hilaby Turner's Hall Primary School continue to be closely monitored by education and health officials after 12 students reportedly developed skin rashes and fever-like symptoms over the past two weeks.

Correspondence sent to parents by the school and the Ministry of Education Transformation confirmed that affected students were removed from classrooms and referred to polyclinics or private physicians for diagnosis and treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kenneth George provided an update on the issue last night and says there is no need to panic or close the school at this time.

A St. Philip man has been charged with murder and conspiracy to murder in connection with a killing that occurred more than two years ago.

The Barbados Police Service Major Crime Unit has arrested and formally charged 26-year-old Jelani Finidi Kemau Nowell of Cliffden, Church Village, St. Philip.

He is accused of murder of Shane Parris allegedly committed on January 13th, 2024, and conspiracy to murder between January 11th and 13th, 2024.
The charges follow investigations by the Major Crime Unit into the fatal incident.

Nowell is scheduled to appear before the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 1st, 2026, where the matter is expected to be formally addressed.

A 25-year-old St. John man has died following a collision involving a motor car and a trailer along Carmichael Road, St. George, early Sunday morning.

Police say they received a report of the fatal collision around 2:52 a.m. and responded to the scene where they discovered the motionless body of a man inside a motor car.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was travelling from the direction of Boarded Hall towards Carmichael Junction when it became involved in a collision with a trailer.

The deceased has been identified as Tristan Kellman of St. Margaret's Village, St. John. A medical doctor visited the scene and pronounced him dead.

Investigations are continuing and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the District ‘B’ Police Station at 437-4311 or 430-7625.
