Forty-six new officers officially joined the ranks of The Barbados Police Service on Wednesday, as the 149th Passing Out Parade was held at the Regional Police Training Centre in Seawell, Christ Church.

The event featured drill displays and celebrations of outstanding performance.

Constable Reian Burke emerged as the top graduate. She swept the top honours, including Most Outstanding Student, Student with the Highest Aggregate, Commandant’s Trophy, Baton of Honour, and Best Recruit.

Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce used the occasion to renew calls for public cooperation, citing a rise in gun-related violence, particularly among young people.

“Today, I renew that clarion call to all members of the public to work alongside us in the pursuit of making our communities safer,” he urged.

Featured speaker Professor Dwayne Devonish echoed that appeal, calling on officers to lead with trust.
