Buddha Purnima, also known as Buddha Jayanti, commemorates the birth of Prince Siddharta Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. According to Buddhist tradition and archaeological findings, Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal, between 563 and 483 BCE. Queen Maya Devi, his mother, gave birth to him during a journey to her ancestral home, while his father was King Śuddhodana. The Mayadevi Temple, surrounded by gardens and an Ashoka Pillar dating back to 249 BCE, signifies the birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini.

Numerous South East Asian countries, such as Thailand, Tibet, China, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cambodia, and Indonesia, along with India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet, celebrate this day with immense joy and happiness.
