Experience the art of creation in motion with Showcase Magazine’s Issue 113, a collection that captures Bangladesh’s evolving creative pulse. Opening with The Red Mosque at Keraniganj, a timeless UNESCO-honored landmark preserving history with grace, the issue journeys through Sadek Ahmed’s masterful watercolor and Sourav Bonik’s evolving realism, where tradition meets technology in harmony.

From the nature-embracing Ayna Burir Adar Residence in Natore to the refined D6 Residence in Dhanmondi, each space reflects thoughtful design and balance. Culinary artistry shines at Baan Busaba, blending East Asian flavors with elegant ambience, while Biproy Kanti Das’s thesis on the Sh*talakhshya Riverfront reimagines urban life with sustainability and soul.

A celebration of creativity that builds, connects, and inspires. 💫

Dwip Gallery opens its doors this June to an exhibition by Mong Mong Shay and Shawon Chisty, joined by fellow artists whose works navigate the tangled relationship between the self and the structures that surround it. Running for fourteen days from June 21 at Lalmatia, the show reflects not only art, but also the restless act of questioning. Each piece unfolds from lived experiences, carrying fragments of doubt, desire, and resistance. Seen together, they create a space where questions linger longer than answers, urging us to look closer and think deeper.

The contemporary art scene in Bangladesh has been steadily evolving, and this July, Alliance Française de Dhaka amplified that momentum with the launch of “Aesthete”, a group exhibition that brought together the creative voices of 29 emerging and independent artists. Opening on July 8 at La Galerie and running until July 15, the exhibition was positioned as more than a display of works—it was an exploration of identity, dialogue, and artistic inquiry.

Surrounded by the calm and greenery of Chattogram Cantonment lies a small yet remarkable structure that transforms the simple act of waiting into an experience. The Parental Shed at Chattogram Cantonment Public College is not just a waiting space, it is a thoughtfully designed environment where parents can relax, enjoy the surroundings, and feel connected to the college’s serene landscape. Established in 1978 and administered by the Bangladesh Army, the college grounds are already known for their quiet charm, and this shed adds a touch of architectural elegance that complements the setting.

Walking into YUZU feels like stepping into a carefully curated dreamscape—where warm textures, earthy tones, and playful design accents converge to create a Pan-Asian dining experience unlike any other in Dhaka. Located in the bustling neighborhood of Dhanmondi, this restaurant is not just about food—it’s a celebration of space, craft, and atmosphere. Designed by Lava Biswas Nandini and Shaharia Nasrin Reta, cofounders and principal interior architects of Thinkspace, along with Assistant Architect Tahsin Ridwan Pulok, YUZU exemplifies how architecture and design can shape how we savor flavors, linger over conversations, and perceive culture.

For Bangladeshi artist Dhananjoy Mondal, art has always been a river—flowing, shifting, unpredictable, and deeply connected to the soil that raised him. A painter of rivers, fields, and rural life, his work is as much about colours on canvas as it is about memory, patience, and belonging. Over the decades, Mondal has carved out a career not only as an accomplished painter working in watercolour and acrylics, but also as a dedicated teacher shaping generations of young artists at Seabreeze International School. His journey tells a story of evolution, but also of constancy: no matter how far his brush has traveled, it always returns to the waters of his childhood.
