What is X-MODE?

X-MODE is Subaru’s advanced traction control system designed to optimize performance in slippery or challenging conditions by adjusting engine output, AWD torque distribution, brakes, and stability control.

✅ X-MODE Options (Depending on Subaru model & variant)

1. Normal Road (X-MODE OFF)
• Use this for everyday driving on tarmac or good roads.
• AWD still active, but traction control is in standard mode.
• Best for fuel efficiency and comfort.
• Do not activate X-MODE on normal, dry roads.

2. Snow / Dirt Mode
• Designed for moderately slippery conditions:
• Light snow
• Gravel
• Wet grass
• Dirt roads
• X-MODE adjusts throttle, AWD response, and braking for better grip.
• Keeps the car stable and controlled without losing traction.

3. Deep Snow / Mud Mode
• Designed for very slippery or soft surfaces:
• Deep snow
• Thick mud
• Sand
• Allows more wheel spin to help dig out of soft surfaces.
• Traction control is less aggressive — this helps keep momentum when wheels start to slip.
• Best for off-road or stuck conditions where momentum is key.

For everyday roads, keep X-MODE off. But if you’re heading into slippery terrain, activate Snow/Dirt. And if you’re ever stuck in deep snow or mud - Snow/Mud mode gives you the power to get through.
