Every evening at 6 p.m., Heinz walked past the same dusty road in the neighborhood just to catch a glimpse of Josephine. She always sat by her window, chin resting in her palm, gazing at the sunset like she was waiting for something—or someone.

Josephine wasn’t like the other girls. She didn’t smile easily. She didn’t chase trends. But Heinz had never seen someone carry silence with such beauty.

One evening, instead of passing by, Heinz stopped.

“Is the sunset better today?” he asked.

Josephine blinked, surprised. “It’s always the same sun,” she replied. “But sometimes it feels different.”

From that day, he stopped walking and started staying. Every evening, they talked. Sometimes about nothing. Sometimes about everything. About the books Josephine loved but never finished. About Heinz’s dreams of building homes. About fear, and hope, and little joys.

Then one day, Josephine wasn’t at the window.

Heinz waited. The next day too. And the next.

On the fourth evening, she returned. Her eyes red, voice low. “My father… he passed away,” she whispered.

Heinz didn’t say a word. He just stood there. She reached out from the window and held his hand.

That’s when they both knew: love wasn’t always loud. Sometimes, it was just showing up. Staying. Holding on.

And from then on, Josephine’s window was never empty again.
