Former Commissioner Secretary G. A. Peer Passes Away

Anantnag, Aug 3: Former Commissioner Secretary and a respected resident of Seer Hamdan, Anantnag G. A. Peer (IAS), passed away in Srinagar after a brief illness.

Details available stated that Peer Saheb had been unwell for some time and breathed his last on Sunday.

Prayers have been requested for the departed soul, and condolences continue to pour in from across the Valley for the bereaved family.

OPERATION AKHAL

Blasts and firing continued throughout the night in the Akhal forests during the ongoing encounter. Sources said this could be one of the biggest operations of the year. So far, two terrorists have been killed, while another is believed to be injured. One soldier has also sustained injuries.
High-tech surveillance systems and elite Para forces are involved in the operation. Top police and army officers are closely monitoring the developments.

1 Miltant Killed In Overnight Encounter In Kulgam, Operation Continues: Army

Srinagar, August 2(GNS): Army on Saturday said that one Unidentified terrorist has been killed in an overnight gunfight in Akhal area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Taking on to micro-blogging platform X the army's Chinar Corps wrote, "Intermittent and Intense fire fight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the nooze while maintaining contact.

One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far.Operation continues,".

The gunfight had erupted yesterday in a joint operation by police, army and CRPF with the terrorists.

1 Killed, Two Others Injured After Deodar Tree Fell Over Them In Anantnag

Srinagar, July 30(GNS) One Person was killed while two others injured after a Deodar tree fell over them in Sheikhpora area of Sallar in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wedneday.

Officials told GNS that this afternoon, a Deodar tree fell on a shed at Sheikhpora Sallar, resulting instant death of a one person and several others were injured.

All the injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Basharat Ahmad Shah resident of Shiekpora Sallar.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
