Jammu, June 26 (KAW): Encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Basantgarh area of Udhampur on Thursday morning, the Army said here.

In a post on X, Army’s White Knight Corps, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KAW) said based on a specific input, a joint operation was launched in the Bihali arwa of Basantgarh.

The Army said contact has been established with terrorists and the operation is in progress—(KAW)

Pregnant Woman’s Death in Kulgam Sparks Allegations of Medical Negligence

Kulgam, June 17, 2025 — A pregnant woman identified as Nayeema Jan, wife of Showkat Ahmad Bhat, resident of Srandoo, tragically passed away during labor after being referred from District Hospital Kulgam. Her death has sparked controversy and raised serious questions regarding alleged medical negligence.

The woman was admitted for delivery when her condition reportedly deteriorated. According to family members, they allege negligence on the part of the medical staff, claiming that proper attention and timely intervention were lacking. The situation escalated when the patient was referred to another facility, but she passed away during treatment.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, Dr. Showkat, commented on the incident, stating that the patient suffered a sudden heart attack during treatment, which led to her untimely demise. He expressed condolences to the family and assured that a thorough internal inquiry would be conducted to establish the facts.
