FRIEZE WEEK 2026: WHAT TO SEE ACROSS NEW YORK’S BIGGEST ART WEEK

📸 View highlights from Frieze Art Fair

New York officially enters art-world overdrive this week as returns to The Shed , anchoring a citywide takeover of fairs, exhibitions, openings, collector dinners, and nonstop downtown energy. From major international galleries to discovery-driven presentations and immersive installations, Frieze Week 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest editions in recent years.

This year’s Frieze New York leans into solo and dual-artist presentations alongside ambitious installations and globally rooted perspectives exploring migration, ecology, identity, memory, and material experimentation. Highlights include presentations from Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, White Cube, Esther Schipper, James Cohan, and more, alongside one of the fair’s strongest Focus sections to date curated by Lumi Tan.

Beyond the booths, Frieze continues expanding into a full cultural ecosystem with immersive activations, large-scale installations, and collaborations including Maison Ruinart, De Beers, and illycaffè.

Across the city, Independent , NADA , Future Fair , , and 1-54 are also bringing major momentum to New York’s spring art season — each offering a distinctly different lens into where contemporary art is heading next.

CHARLIE LE MINDU RETURNS TO PARIS COUTURE WITH “SKINS”
After a decade away from the runway, Charlie Le Mindu returned to Paris Couture Week with “SKINS,” a one-night-only couture performance that reframed the body as material, presence, and power.
Constructed entirely from real human hair, the SS26 collection moved beyond decoration into structure and architecture—hair as a second skin. Rejecting softened narratives of body positivity, “SKINS” centered body visibility instead: unedited, autonomous, and deliberately seen.
Presented with support from Pornhub in their first appearance at Paris Couture Week, the show engaged ongoing conversations around desire, censorship, and control over visibility in contemporary culture. A collaboration with Byredo extended the experience into scent and beauty, reinforcing the collection’s focus on intimacy and presence rather than spectacle.

NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ART HONORS WALTER ROBINSON WITH 2025 “TAKE HOME A NUDE” AT PHILLIPS

The New York Academy of Art will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Walter Robinson with its 2025 edition of “Take Home a N**e,” the Academy’s storied art auction and benefit, held this year at Phillips on December 15, 2025. The evening will unfold at 432 Park Avenue with a festive cocktail reception, followed by both live and silent auctions—an annual convergence of artists, collectors, and patrons that reflects the spirit of generosity and community Robinson championed.

The evening’s auctions will feature an impressive sweep of contemporary voices—from rising talents to internationally renowned artists. Works by Deborah Kass, Robert Longo, Marilyn Minter, Jamie Nares, Richard Prince, David Salle, and Kenny Scharf will be offered alongside pieces by The Untitled Space’s Indira Cesarine and Martha Zmpounou, underscoring the depth and diversity of this year’s roster.

Bidding is now open online and continues in person on December 15, offering collectors a prime opportunity to secure standout artworks for the holidays while supporting the Academy’s scholarship and public-programming initiatives. Those unable to attend the live event may still participate via proxy bidding.
