NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ART HONORS WALTER ROBINSON WITH 2025 “TAKE HOME A NUDE” AT PHILLIPS

The New York Academy of Art will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Walter Robinson with its 2025 edition of “Take Home a Nude,” the Academy’s storied art auction and benefit, held this year at Phillips on December 15, 2025. The evening will unfold at 432 Park Avenue with a festive cocktail reception, followed by both live and silent auctions—an annual convergence of artists, collectors, and patrons that reflects the spirit of generosity and community Robinson championed.

The evening’s auctions will feature an impressive sweep of contemporary voices—from rising talents to internationally renowned artists. Works by Deborah Kass, Robert Longo, Marilyn Minter, Jamie Nares, Richard Prince, David Salle, and Kenny Scharf will be offered alongside pieces by The Untitled Space’s Indira Cesarine and Martha Zmpounou, underscoring the depth and diversity of this year’s roster.

Bidding is now open online and continues in person on December 15, offering collectors a prime opportunity to secure standout artworks for the holidays while supporting the Academy’s scholarship and public-programming initiatives. Those unable to attend the live event may still participate via proxy bidding.

We are saddened by the passing of visionary designer 💔 featured here in our “Legendary” Issue with an interview by EIC and photos by 🕊️”Amidst the electric spirit of 1980s punk rebellion, British fashion designer Pam Hogg emerged as a self-taught, quirky powerhouse who quickly became a fixture of the fashion scene. “I went to art school to be a fine artist, until I discovered print design and its process. With no rules to follow, I just made it up as I went along, and I still do today.” Pam’s eclectic body of work embodies a forward-leaning hybridization of art and fashion. The offbeat designer’s work raises the proverbial middle finger to the mainstream fashion world, making her a visionary in the process.”

In Shade of Spades, photographer Alena Saz transforms beauty into provocation through a series of noir-inspired portraits starring model Leona Naomi Wong. The editorial reimagines gothic glamour with a futuristic edge—melding high-shine latex textures, jet-black lacquered lips, and sculptural lashes that drip with intensity. Makeup artist Suna Myles crafts bold, surreal looks that oscillate between elegance and distortion, while Ryan Taniguchi’s sharp, graphic hairstyling amplifies the visual tension between control and chaos. The result is a hypnotic exploration of dark seduction and self-possession, where every reflection and gesture hints at the power of transformation.
