🌍 Strengthening vaccine cold chains through One Health collaboration
A recent Devpolicy Blog article, co-authored by Prof. Dr. Md. Ahasanul Hoque, Director of the One Health Institute, CVASU, highlights how Bangladesh is setting an example in collaborative public–animal health efforts.
The article, titled “Sharing burdens, increasing impact with robust vaccine cold chains,” explores how maintaining vaccines at the right temperature is vital for protecting both people and animals from preventable diseases. It emphasizes that vaccine success depends not only on production but also on storage, transport, and coordinated management — all sustained by an efficient cold chain.
Prof. Hoque’s contribution reflects Bangladesh’s progress under the USAID Feed the Future Bangladesh Livestock and Nutrition Activity and the One Health Poultry Hub, where cross-sectoral coordination between veterinary and public health teams has shown how shared infrastructure, knowledge, and responsibility can overcome logistical barriers.
This collaborative model demonstrates the true spirit of One Health — protecting livestock, securing food systems, and safeguarding human health through shared investment and collective action.
