🌍📘 Bangladesh’s One Health Success Story Featured in Global Atlas!

We are delighted to announce the international publication of the One Health Atlas, a landmark global resource jointly published by CABI and Éditions Quæ. This comprehensive, visual, and multidimensional reference showcases how One Health is being applied worldwide—and proudly features Bangladesh as a model of institutional success.

✍️ Among the key contributors to this historic volume are two of Bangladesh’s most respected voices in the One Health movement:

🔹 Professor Dr. Nitish Chandra Debnath, National Coordinator, One Health Bangladesh
🔹 Professor Dr. Md. Ahasanul Hoque, Director, One Health Institute, CVASU

Their joint article, titled "Real-world lessons from One Health practices", appears in the Afterword section of the One Health Atlas. It reflects on Bangladesh’s remarkable journey—beginning from the avian influenza outbreak in 2007 to the formation of One Health Bangladesh, and the establishment of the One Health Secretariat in 2016. The piece outlines how multisectoral collaboration, persistent effort, and strong national and international partnerships transformed a vision into a national framework recognized globally.

🇧🇩 Bangladesh’s One Health model—featuring successful AMR control, rabies vaccination campaigns, outbreak surveillance, and regional cooperation—is now helping shape international policy, funding priorities, and educational frameworks around the world.

📚✨ Assignment Workshop on Risk Analysis | Masters of Public Health | One Health Institute ✨📚

Today, we had an incredibly insightful and interactive Assignment Workshop on Risk Analysis under the course "Food Safety and Risk Assessment" as part of our Master's in Public Health program at the One Health Institute, CVASU.

🔬 Our course is led by the brilliant Dr. Meherjan Islam, and we were honored to have our work evaluated by an esteemed panel consisting of:

Professor Dr. Md. Ahasanul Hoque

Dr. Shamsul Morshed

Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman

🎯 A total of 8 groups presented their qualitative and semi-qualitative risk assessment assignments, covering both field-based and literature-based approaches. The topics addressed critical public and environmental health issues:

1️⃣ Qualitative assessment of human health risks from street food preparation in the Chattogram Metropolitan Area
2️⃣ Human toxoplasmosis through undercooked meat consumption: A literature-based qualitative risk assessment
3️⃣ Literature-based qualitative risk assessment of workers in the shipbreaking industry
4️⃣ Assessment of human health risks from improper serving and consumer behaviours at street food stalls in Chattogram
5️⃣ Literature-based human health risk assessment from heavy metal-contaminated shrimp in Bangladesh
6️⃣ Assessment of human health risks from commonly overlooked food adulterants used in Iftar foods in the Chattogram Metropolitan Area
7️⃣ Semi-qualitative risk assessment of public and environmental health hazards in the Bihari community of Chattogram
8️⃣ Qualitative assessment of environmental health risks from plastic usage across the markets of the Chattogram Metropolitan Area

🧠 The session was problem-based, promoting interactive learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of risk assessment methodologies. The presentations sparked meaningful discussions, and our instructors shared valuable insights that truly enhanced our understanding of the subject.

💡 Several projects were recognized by the professors as potential topics for future research, as these small-scale assessments revealed significant gaps that deserve in-depth exploration.

🌟 It was truly inspiring to witness the teamwork, creativity, and analytical skills of all participating groups. Everyone brought forward unique perspectives and demonstrated how public health issues can be addressed through a risk assessment lens.

Grateful to be part of such a vibrant academic environment where learning goes beyond the classroom. 📊🧪
