বিয়ের দেনমোহর মাত্র ১০০১ টাকা !!!

কাজী সাহেব,নিজের কানকে বিশ্বাস করতে পারছেন না, বিয়ে পড়াচ্ছেন আজ ১৪বছর ধরে- এমন অদ্ভুত কথা কখনো শোনেন নাই। দেনমোহর মাত্র ১০০১ টাকা? কনে পক্ষের মুরুব্বিদের মুখে কথা নাই।
ছেলে পক্ষের মুরুব্বিরা অবাক! এটা হয় না-কি ? উভয় পক্ষ বরের ওপর চরম বিরক্ত, নানাভাবে তাকে বুঝানোর চেষ্টা চলছে। হট্টগোল দেখে বিয়ের মঞ্চ থেকে নেমে এলো কনে, এক মুরুব্বি এগিয়ে গেলেন মেয়ের কাছে।
মাঃ ছেলে বলছে দেনমোহর মাত্র ১০০১টাকা।
কনে, হ্যাঁ জানি; এটা আমার'ই ডিসিশান।
কি বলছো তুমি ? ১০০১টাকায় বিয়ে দেবো ? আমাদের মেয়ে কি এত শস্তা?
তোমরা কি আমাকে বিয়ে দিচ্ছো নাকি বিক্রি করছো?
না, বিক্রি হবে কেন?
তা'হলে সস্তা-দামীর কথা উঠলো কেনো ? আচ্ছা; বলো- আমার দাম কত ? ঠিক কত টাকা হলে তোমাদের মনে হয় আমাকে দিয়ে দেয়া যায় ?
তোমার দাম আবার কি ? মানুষের কোন দাম ঠিক করা যায় না-কি ? মানুষ অমূল্য।
মানুষ অমূল্য বলেই আমরা কোন দাম ঠিক করিনি; একটা প্রতীকী দেনমোহর ধার্য করেছি মাত্র।
দেনমোহর একটা সিকিউরিটি মানি; তোমার সিকিউরিটির চিন্তা আমরা করবো না ?
আমি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে মাস্টার্স করেছি;
এখন ভালো চাকুরী করছি। আমার সিকিউরিটি হাসবেন্ডের কাছ থেকে নিতে হবে কেন? আমি নিজের খরচ নিজেই চালাতে পারবো, ইনশাআল্লাহ্
কিন্তু ইসলামী শরীয়াহ্ ?
শোন! তোমরা এখন একটা বড় অ্যামাউন্ট ঠিক করলে কি হবে ? ও কি সেটা এখন দিতে পারবে ? ওর পুরো সেভিংস বিয়েতে খরচ হয়ে গেছে আর ও কখনো'ই ওর বাবার কাছ থেকে টাকা নেবে না। তা'হলে ?
ইসলামী শরীয়াহ্ বলে সংসার শুরুর আগেই দেনমোহর শোধ করতে হবে। বাংলাদেশের কতজন মেয়ে দেনমোহরের টাকা পায় ? গহনা বাবদ কিছু উসুল দেখায়; যেই গহনা আসলে গিফট দেবার কথা আর বাকিটা কাগজে কলমেই থেকে যায়।
এই হিপোক্রেসির কি দরকার?
পরে যদি কিছু হয় ?
ডিভোর্সের কথা বলছো ? আমি বিয়ের আগেই ডিভোর্সের কথা ভাবি না। হাসবেন্ড আমাকে পছন্দ করছে না কিন্তু বড় দেনমোহরের ভয়ে ডিভোর্স ও দিচ্ছে না।
এই দয়ার জীবন আমি চাই না। যদি কখনো আমাদের মাঝে দূরত্ব আসে; তা'হলে আমি স্বেচ্ছায় ওকে ছেড়ে দিবো। যে মানুষটাকেই আমি পেলাম না; তার টাকা নিয়ে বাকি জীবন চালাবো- এতটা খারাপ অবস্থা আমার আসবে না ইনশাআল্লাহ।
আমার একটা আত্মসম্মান আছে। আর সম্মান নিয়েই বেঁচে থাকতে চাই।
