An Aframax oil tanker named M.T. Pablo has caught fire, leading to the reported disappearance of three crew members and the rescue of 25 others. The incident occurred off the coast of Singapore in the South China Sea. The Japanese-built 96,800-dwt Pablo, which was constructed in 1997, was carrying no cargo and did not cause any oil spill. It was en route from China to Singapore to pick up crude oil when the fire broke out.

Smoke from the fire made it unsafe for authorities to inspect the vessel, and there is a possibility that the three missing crew members, who are identified as two Indian nationals and a Ukrainian, could still be aboard. The remaining crew members, including four with serious injuries, were rescued, with 23 of them picked up by two nearby ships.

Search and rescue (SAR) operations were launched by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) after receiving notification of the fire on Monday at 4 pm (0800 GMT). The cause of the fire is being investigated, and ongoing operations include checking to see if the missing crew members had abandoned the vessel or jumped into the sea.
