Storseisundet Bridge on Norway's Atlantic Road.
Drive carefully or this wild car ride might make you seasick. Winding from the mainland across numerous islands, Norway's five-mile Atlanterhavsveien (Atlantic Road) is known for its dizzying roller-coaster feel as it carries car traffic mere metres above the ocean. Storseisundet Bridge, the span at the centre-bottom of our image, curves and arches steeply to create a famous optical illusion that makes travellers feel as if they're cruising straight into oblivion. But if you prefer less deceptive sights, take in our bird's-eye view. There's nothing illusory about this spectacular scenery.
