১] روح (আত্মা) একটি এমন অদৃশ্যমান বস্তু যে, যে দেহের সাথে তার সম্পর্ক বহাল থাকে, তাকে জীবিত বলা হয়। আর যে দেহ হতে তার সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন হয়ে যায়, তাকে মৃত্যুর শিকার হতে হয়। জীবনের পর রয়েছে মৃত্যু। আল্লাহ তাআলা ক্ষণস্থায়ী এই জীবনের ব্যবস্থা এই জন্য করেছেন, যাতে তিনি পরীক্ষা করতে পারেন যে, এই জীবনের সদ্ব্যবহার কে করে? যে এ জীবনকে ঈমান ও আনুগত্যের কাজে ব্যবহার করবে, তার জন্য রয়েছে উত্তম প্রতিদান এবং যে এর অন্যথা করবে, তার জন্য রয়েছে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি। (সূরা মূলক:০২)
