📖 Untold Story of Class 8 – Our First Rakhine State Board Exam (2014)
Back in 2014, we were in Class 8, the time of our very first Myanmar board exam for Class 8 students. It was our midterm exam, and we were moved from our beloved Myaw Taung High School to No.2 Basic Education High School, Maung Daw, which was about 22 km away according to the new roadmap. It was the first-ever board exam experience for all of us in our region & everything felt new and exciting!
Our whole batch traveled by taxis, which were organized in groups by our school team. We all stayed together at Anam Guest House until our last subject (History) exam. Every part of the plan, from travel to accommodation, was perfectly arranged by our school department, and two of our beloved teachers, Saya Rohim Kyaw Hein and Saya Toyoup, organized everything wonderfully.
Throughout this whole period, our guide teachers were the two amazing people in the photos. Ansar Mohammed Aansar and Saya Osman Osman Goni. Both of them cared for us like parents do, they checked if we were eating properly, studying on time, performing Namaz punctually, and whether we were fully prepared for each subject. Before every exam in the morning, they made sure we revised well and had everything we needed "pens, rulers, id card and courage too"!
In , we saw parents waiting outside the gate with sweets, juice, or coconuts for their children after the two-hour exams. That sight touched us deeply but for us, our Saya Ansar and Saya Osman were no less than parents. They never let us feel the absence of our families. After every exam, whether we did well or not, we still laughed together because our teachers’ guidance gave us confidence and peace of mind.
It was one of the most special and unforgettable moments for our Class 8 (2014 batch). Before that, we never had such bonding moments, we were only meeting during class hours. But this journey changed everything; it made us like one big family. We also experienced the town lifestyle for the first time, the city life was totally different and exciting! In the evenings, we climbed up to the of the guest house to enjoy the beautiful view of Maung Daw . From there, we could see people on other rooftops doing their evening and yes 😄, we also noticed some beautiful girls on nearby rooftops! That evening rooftop chill time was our secret fun time (definitely not known by our guides 🤣).
Now comes the funniest memory of that trip THE UNTOLD STORY!
One midnight, we were all sleeping, I and my village mates were in one room on the first floor, it was small for six people but we managed well. In the next room were our mentors, Saya and Saya . Suddenly, in the middle of the night, we heard a loud Saya Osman had a dream and accidentally Saya Ansar’s back with great force! 😆 Saya Ansar woke up immediately and shouted, “ ! Why you punched me on my back?! 😠” and Saya Osman, half-asleep, replied laughingly, “I was dreaming and it happened by mistake! 🤣” That moment made us burst into laughter, and I still remember it vividly🙃 I got up and witnessed the whole funny scene! Later, we used to joke, “We wish such dreams for revenge with our partners 🤣🤣.”
Two teachers Saya Ansar and Saya Osman were not just guides but also the best of friends. That’s why the school department chose them together to be our guardians for this journey.
Dear lovely and , please share your experiences or memories in the comments below. Wherever you all are today I miss each one of you dearly. Some of our classmates have been tragically lost during the 2016-17 military attacks, and others are scattered across refugee camps, Malaysia, and different countries abroad.
I want to especially remember my Friend Sayed Noor (Thu Oo Hla), the funniest and most cheerful guy in our class, the one who always made us laugh during lessons. Sadly, he was tragically killed by terrorists in the Bangladesh refugee camp. His laughter still echoes in my heart whenever I think of those days. 💔🙏
That 2014 exam journey was more than just a school event it was a lifetime memory, full of laughter, friendship, faith, and love that time can never erase. ❤️
Bodda the punch 👊😂
