Rohingya Genocide Day — 25 August
🇧🇩 A Tribute of Gratitude to Bangladesh
Some debts in history can never truly be repaid; they can only live on in the heart as enduring gratitude.
In 2017, when hundreds of thousands of Rohingya were forced to flee their homes amid violence, fear and devastation, Bangladesh opened its doors to us. It provided shelter to the displaced, food to the hungry and a place of safety to those whose lives were under threat. The Rohingya people will never forget this profound act of humanity.
25 August — Rohingya Genocide Day
25 August is more than a date on the calendar—it is a day etched into the collective memory of the Rohingya people, carrying the weight of immense loss and grief.
In 2017, Rohingya communities were subjected to mass killings, arson and widespread persecution. Homes were burned, families were torn apart, and countless lives were lost. Some children were separated from their parents; some parents lost their children. Many lost their homes, while an entire people were driven from the land they called home.
Years have passed and generations have changed, but the wounds of genocide have not disappeared. The memories of burning villages, the loss of loved ones and the homeland left behind in Arakan remain deeply embedded in the Rohingya collective memory.
We do not seek revenge—we seek justice.
We do not seek pity—we seek rights and dignity.
We do not seek merely to return—we seek a safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation.
Today, we remember the victims with profound respect and ask the conscience of the world:
How much longer will the suffering of an entire people remain unheard?
25 August 2017 — We have not forgotten, and we never will.
