🚀 Perceptor: A new eye to monitor satellites in space!

Space is busier than ever—thousands of satellites orbit the Earth, and monitoring them is becoming increasingly important for future space security. 🌍🛰️

Astranis’ Perceptor spacecraft are designed for this purpose. These probes can help observe and track the activities of satellites and other space objects in geostationary orbit (GEO), about 35,786 kilometers above Earth.

🔭 The basic concept of Perceptor is to create an “eye” that can continuously see distant satellites, understand their movements, and help improve space traffic awareness.

In the future, such technology could play a role in important tasks such as: 🛰️ Satellite tracking
🌐 Space traffic monitoring
🔐 Satellite security
🚨 Unusual activity detection
📡 GEO orbit awareness

The most interesting thing is that as the number of satellites in space increases, space traffic management is becoming as important as roads on Earth. 🚀

Could there be a need for “traffic police” in space in the future? 👀🌌

The 2026 study on the evolution of Saturn’s rings and moons isn’t limited to a single new discovery; various observations and models are combining to paint a picture that Saturn’s current moon-ring system may have had a much more dynamic and violent past.
🪐 What’s really going on around Saturn?
According to new research, scientists are looking at Saturn’s rings, moons, and the gravitational interactions between them to try to understand how the system changed over time. According to NASA, Saturn’s rings contain ice particles, dust, and larger pieces, while its moons also influence the material in the rings. For example, icy particles from Enceladus provide material for Saturn’s E-ring.
NASA Science
An intriguing 2026 model suggests that Titan itself may have been the result of a massive collision and merger of two ancient moons, and that this event may have gravitationally affected Saturn’s other moons as well.
SETI Institute +1
This raises a surprising possibility: Saturn's beautiful rings may have been formed from the debris left over from an ancient catastrophic collision. Earlier NASA supercomputer simulations also suggested that the ring material could have been created by the collision of two icy moons a few hundred million years ago.
NASA
And NASA's James Webb and Hubble have observed Saturn's atmosphere, rings, and multiple moons at different wavelengths, providing a more detailed picture of the entire system.

First Globular Cluster Stellar Stream Outside the Milky Way
This is a truly important astronomical discovery. A study published on August 12, 2026, found evidence of a stellar stream in an ultra-diffuse galaxy called UGC 9050-Dw1 that is likely to have originated from a globular cluster. This is being called the first observational evidence of a globular-cluster stellar stream outside the Milky Way.
Nature +1
A globular cluster is a very dense group of stars. When such a cluster orbits a galaxy's gravitational field, tidal forces can slowly pull some of its stars into a long, thin stellar stream.
The most exciting thing about this discovery is that by using such streams, astronomers can get information about the mass and composition of another galaxy's dark matter halo. The research models point to a relatively massive dark-matter halo for UGC 9050-Dw1.

💥 The very first moment of a supernova has been caught! 🌌
A star in the universe dies with a huge explosion, but the first moment of that explosion usually passes in a matter of seconds—and is extremely difficult to capture.
🚀 The Einstein Probe has identified the initial “shock breakout” phase of a supernova, when a powerful shock wave generated inside the star reaches its outer surface and the first noticeable electromagnetic radiation is emitted into space.
🔭 Observing this brief but crucial moment can help scientists understand: ✨ What the star was like before the explosion
✨ How a supernova explosion begins
✨ What was happening in the outer layers of the star
✨ And how a massive star ends its life
That means we’re not just watching a star explode—we’re trying to catch the first glimpse of that explosion! 🤯🌌

Saturn's 6 moons in NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day
NASA's APOD image today shows six moons of Saturn. According to NASA, as of June 2026, Saturn had 293 known moons—making it one of the most moon-rich planets in the solar system.
