Every year, on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the exhibition 'Banglar Buddha' was held at Alliance Française. Though it's paintings and sculptures centered exhibition, its purpose went much deeper—to bring the thoughts, philosophy, and humanistic teachings of the Buddha to contemporary audiences.

From that exhibition, I collected a reading material featuring a piece by Amartya Sen on the contemporary relevance of the Buddha. The booklet had remained untouched on our catalog shelf for quite some time. Recently, we came across it again.

This is not for everyone. It is for those who are curious to know, to read, and to reflect. For those who are interested in understanding and embracing the Buddha’s ideals not merely as a part of history, but as something that continues to hold meaning in the present day.

Perhaps that is why 'Banglar Buddha' is more than an annual art exhibition. Year after year, it serves as a quiet significant reminder of the enduring relevance of the Buddha’s thoughts, values, and humanity in our time.

“Sampriti” exhibition held at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre felt like a quiet and intimate experience within a highly secure environment. Not everyone may feel comfortable stepping into such a formal setting, yet once inside, the atmosphere was remarkably calm, refined, and free from the usual city noise.

Walking through the exhibition, taking time to observe the works of admired artists, and experiencing the dialogue between 33 Bangladeshi artists celebrating cultural harmony made the visit truly memorable. The overall environment, hospitality, and thoughtful organization added to the experience beautifully.
Having a proper invitation allowed us to witness this serene and meaningful exhibition up close.

We are grateful to share the column “The Curator as Translator” by, Puja Basak, on Dulonchapa Venus.

Through her thoughtful reflections on curating, history, and the evolving language of Bangladeshi contemporary art, she reminds us that art is never only about objects, it is about memory, identity, and the future we choose to preserve.

Her words beautifully capture the responsibility of the curator as a bridge between artist, audience, and history itself. We are truly honored and grateful to her for contributing such an important and powerful column to our journey.

The conversation around Bangladeshi art is expanding, and voices like hers continue to shape it with depth, clarity, and vision.

A Lifetime of Practice: Mohammad Eunus

Behind every great artist lies a journey built on passion, discipline, sacrifice, and countless unseen sketches. This time, we stepped inside the world of Mohammad Eunus—artist, thinker, and Chairman of Art Bangla Foundation—to witness the life that exists beyond the canvas. From decades of sketchbook practice to his deep philosophy of abstraction, from breathtaking realist works to a five-room studio filled with memories, colors, tools, music, and endless experimentation—every corner revealed a story. At seventy-two, his routine, curiosity, and dedication still feel younger than many of us. Some artists create paintings. Some artists create a way of living.

On May 11, the world remembers Salvador Dalí—not simply as a master painter, but as an artist who dared to enter the deepest corners of the human mind. While many artists painted the visible world, Dalí painted what lived beneath it: fear, desire, obsession, memory, fragility, and dreams too complex for language.

His melting clocks, distorted bodies, empty landscapes, and impossible visions were never meant to comfort us. They were invitations to confront uncertainty, to question reality, and to listen to the subconscious parts of ourselves that modern life often silences.

Today, on his birthday, we remember an artist who proved that imagination is not an escape from truth—sometimes, it is the deepest form of truth.
