A new official portrait of Her Royal Highness Anne, The Princess Royal has been released to mark her 75th birthday today. The photo was taken last month (by John Swannell) at the princess's private residence in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire. Happy birthday! 🎂🎉
Born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise on August 15, 1950, she is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II (who was still princess at that time) and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. She was born third in the line of succession and now at 18th place.
Princess Anne held the Princess Royal title since 1987. It's the traditional title given to the eldest daughter of the British sovereign since the reign of King Charles I (Stuart).
Princess Anne has passion for horses and became the first member of the British royal family to compete in the Olympic Games in 1976. In 1988, the Princess Royal became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Anne performs official duties and engagements on behalf of the monarch. She is patron or president of more than 300 organisations and often regarded as the hardest working member of the British royal family due to the amount of public engagements she performed.
She has two children from her first marriage: Peter Phillips and Zara Phillips-Tindall. She's married to Sir Timothy Laurence since December 1992.
