Why didn’t the British Prime Minister meet with the visiting de facto Prime Minister of Bangladesh?

1. The guests from Bangladesh arrived in the UK without confirming a meeting beforehand. Major country heads don’t meet like that.

2. The de facto Prime Minister of Bangladesh has, by her own account, about 10 months left in the job—or possibly even less. So the need for a meeting may have diminished. This is not something shameful for Bangladesh. Every job has an end. It is fine.

3. Meeting would bring the Tulip issue back into the media again. The British Prime Minister has no need to get involved with the “stench” of Tulip by meeting with a short-term de facto Prime Minister.

4. The topics Bangladesh is raising—like recovering corrupt money—are not matters for heads of government in countries like the UK or the US.

If some local crook from Bangladesh stole money, bought houses, expensive watches, and partied with it—that’s, at most, a discussion for the Director of the Financial Crime Division. British or American Prime Ministers are not going to get involved in that. In the US, at most, the FBI or the Treasury Department would deal with these matters.

Some BNP leaders are reportedly heading to London to join a meeting between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman! However, it has not been confirmed exactly who is going.
If this is true, it is concerning — suspicious and seemingly intentional.

প্রধান উপদেষ্টার সাথে সাক্ষাৎ শেষে প্রেস ব্রিফিংয়ে যা জানিয়েছে জামায়াতে ইসলামী :

⭕️ জামায়াত বিশ্বাস করে সমস্ত দলই দেশকে ভালোবাসে। ভালোবাসার জায়গা থেকে দায়িত্ববোধের পরিচয় দিয়ে সবাইকে এগিয়ে আসতে হবে অর্থবহ সংস্কার ও অর্থবহ নির্বাচনের জন্য।

⭕️ জামায়াত মনে করে দুইটা রোডম্যাপ ঘোষণা করলেই সমাজে চলমান অস্থিরতা অনেকাংশে কাটানো সম্ভব। একটা হচ্ছে সংস্কারের রোডম্যাপ ও অন্যটি নির্বাচনের রোডম্যাপ। এই দুইটাই অতীব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

⭕️ জুলাই প্রোক্লেমেশনের ব্যাপারে দলগুলোর মতামতের ভিন্নতা থাকলেও জুলাই ঘোষণাপত্র প্রকাশ করতে হবে।

⭕️দেশে একটা পরিবর্তন এসেছে। এই পরিবর্তনে যারা সরকারে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন তাদের পরিচয় হচ্ছে তারা কোন পার্টিকে বিলং করবেন না, এটাই হওয়া উচিত। কিন্তু এখানে কিছুটা ব্যতিক্রম ঘটেছে।

⭕️ স্বাভাবিকভাবেই দেশের পরিবর্তনের কিছু দাবি ছিল অর্থবহ সংস্কার করা লাগবে। যারা অপরাধী তাদের বিচার হতে হবে। এই সংস্কার ও বিচারের মধ্য দিয়েই একটা অর্থবহ নির্বাচন হবে। নির্বাচনে যারা অংশগ্রহণ করবেন তাদেরকে কোন ধরণের ষড়যন্ত্রের মুখোমুখি হতে হবেনা। এখানে পেশিশক্তি ও কালো টাকার প্রভাব চলবেনা।

⭕️জনগণের বড় ধরণের কোন ভোগান্তি না হয়, এমন একটা কমফোর্টেবল টাইমে এই নির্বাচন হওয়া উচিত। নির্বাচনের আগে সংস্কার ও বিচারের দৃশ্যমান কিছু প্রক্রিয়া জনগণের কাছে অবশ্যই আসতে হবে। সংস্কার শেষ না হয়ে যদি কোন নির্বাচন হয় এই নির্বাচনে জনগণ তাদের প্রত্যাশা পূরণ করতে পারবেনা। যে পাঁচটা সংস্কারে তারা হাত দিয়েছেন অন্তত এতটুকুর নিষ্পত্তি হওয়া উচিত সন্তোষজনক ভাবে।

⭕️ প্রধান উপদেষ্টার সামনে লিখিত বক্তব্য উপস্থাপন করেছে তারা।

⭕️ বিতর্কিত উপদেষ্টাদের বাদ দিয়ে উপদেষ্টা পরিষদ পুনর্গঠনের জন্য দাবি জানিয়েছে ।

⭕️ আওয়ামীলীগের বিচার সবচে বেশি দাবি রাখে বিএনপি তাই আওয়ামীলীগের বিচার প্রক্রিয়া অসম্পূর্ণ থাকলে বিএনপি ক্ষমতায় গিয়ে তাদের বিচার করবে।

⭕️ বিএনপি মনে করে, নির্বাচন যত বিলম্ব হবে হবে , ততই জাতির কাছে পুনরায় স্বৈ'রা'চার ফিরে আসার ক্ষেত্র প্রস্তুত হবে। কাজেই এর দায় দায়িত্ব বর্তমান সরকার ও তাদের সাথে সংশ্লিষ্টদের ওপর বর্তাবে।

⭕️ নির্বাচন সংক্রান্ত সংস্কার অতি দ্রুত সম্পন্ন করে ডিসেম্বরের মধ্যে নির্বাচনের রোডম্যাপ প্রকাশ করতে হবে।

⭕️ বিএনপির দাবি কখনোই প্রধান উপদেষ্টার পদত্যাগ চায়নি তারা বরং প্রথম থেকেই সরকারকে সহযোগিতা করে আসছে।
