After nearly three years of waiting, Ao Ashi fans finally have something to celebrate — Season 2 of the anime has been confirmed! The announcement was leaked via the cover of Big Comic Spirits. While the official reveal is set for May 2, 2025, the news is already spreading fast. Season 1, which aired in 2022 and ran for 24 episodes, covered up to Chapter 118 of the manga. Season 2 is expected to continue Ash*to Aoi’s football journey as the manga approaches its end. Creator Yugo Kobayashi confirmed that the Ao Ashi manga will conclude with Chapter 410, wrapping up in June 2025 across 40 volumes.
The anime is produced by Production I.G., known for their work on other top-tier series. No release date or trailer for Season 2 has been shared yet, but more details are expected soon.
With Haikyuu!! nearing its own finale, and Blue Lock riding high with Season 2 and massive manga success, Ao Ashi's return is a huge win for sports anime fans. Other notable series in the genre include Yuri on Ice and Run With The Wind, all of which have contributed to the growing popularity of sports anime in recent years.
