#️⃣ Excel Lookup Functions Every Data Analyst Must Know

As Data Analysts, working with large datasets means we often need to search, reference, and retrieve values quickly.
That’s where Lookup Functions come in!

🔑 Excel Lookup Functions Explained
📌 1. VLOOKUP (Vertical Lookup):
Looks for a value in the first column of a range and returns a value in the same row from another column.
👉 Example: =VLOOKUP("E102", A2:E5, 4, FALSE) → Finds Salary of Employee ID E102.

📌 2. HLOOKUP (Horizontal Lookup):
Looks for a value in the first row of a range and returns a value in the same column from another row.
👉Example: =HLOOKUP("Q3", F2:12, 2, FALSE) → Retrieves Target Value for Q3.

📌 3. MATCH:
Returns the position of a value in a row or column.
👉Example: =MATCH("Department", A1:D1, 0) → Returns column position of Department.

📌 4. INDEX:
Returns the value of a cell within a given range, based on row and column number.
👉Example: =INDEX(A2:D5, 5, 4) → Salary at Row 5, Column 4.

📌 5. INDEX + MATCH (Power Combo):
Flexible replacement for VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP.
First use MATCH to find the column number, then INDEX to return the value.
👉Example: =INDEX(B2:E5, MATCH("E102", A2:A5, 0), MATCH("Salary", B1:E1, 0))
