A Bangladesh Air Force F-7BGI trainer aircraft crashed into the roof of a school complex shortly after takeoff at 1:06 pm local time. Fire and smoke were seen at the time.

The accident resulted in at least one death (reportedly a student) and 4-13 injuries, mostly to students and nursery students.

About 100 of the injured have been shifted to hospitals; some with serious burns and scalds have been referred to the National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery.

Rescue operations are underway by the fire service, air force and army. Smoke and fire have been extinguished, and special measures have been taken to reduce risk at the scene.

The F-7BGI is a Chinese-made trainer aircraft, which is used for high-level training of the Bangladesh Army.

The investigation into the accident is being overseen by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and other government authorities.
