‼️A terrible experience at Cafe Social, InterContinental!
I stayed at InterContinental for my birthday, and the room and complimentary breakfast were top notch. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at Cafe Social.
We ordered a Triple Decker Club Sandwich, an Iced Americano, and a Cappuccino. The sandwich was decent, although quite dry. But the cappuccino neither tasted good nor was it served properly. It was spilled all over the cup, like tong er cha. On top of that, the staff’s behavior was far from polite. So, what’s the point of charging such high prices?
The next morning, before checking out, I ordered an Iced Cappuccino. As soon as I held the glass, the upper part suddenly came off and broke. The entire glass of coffee spilled onto the table and my dress. What a mess! They replaced it with a new one, but my mood was ruined.
The manager came to me after a while and apologized, saying, “Sorry for this accident, ma’am. Glass er temper shesh, etay ashole karo haat nai.” But if the glass had become old or weakened over time, it should have been replaced before something like this happened. What if the coffee was hot?
My husband later complained at the hotel reception, and they promised to address these issues in the future. They also offered me a complimentary dessert.
In my opinion, this was nowhere near the experience I expected from a five star hotel. When you’re charging akash-chowa prices, the food, presentation, service, and basic safety standards should reflect that.
