For more than thirty years, Aranya has remained one of Bangladesh’s most steadfast champions of sustainable fashion and craft-based livelihoods.

Founded in 1990 by the late Ruby Ghuznavi, Aranya pioneered the revival of natural dyes at a time when traditional dyeing practices were rapidly disappearing. By sourcing colours from plants, flowers, leaves, roots, and other natural materials, Aranya has consistently promoted environmentally responsible production while reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals. Through a fair-trade model, the brand supports thousands of artisans, preserves traditional crafts, and demonstrates that sustainability is not a trend, but a way of life.

In 2018, Ghuznavi passed the leadership of Aranya to Nawshin Khair, marking a transition that upheld the brand’s core values while embracing new perspectives. Under Khair’s direction, Aranya continues to reinterpret heritage for the present day — advancing slow fashion, supporting artisan communities, and ensuring its craft traditions remain both culturally grounded and internationally relevant.
