Chokka - ছক্কা just launched their new menu, guys!! And I instantly ran there after hearing about it from one of my office colleagues.

I actually visited this place almost a year ago, and somehow completely forgot about it. But I still remembered the food and how much I liked the outdoor seating area. It’s a nice little spot where you can sit, eat, talk, and just spend some extra time.

This time we tried:

Chicken Lollipop — 485tk
Calamari Fritti — 575tk
Alfredo Fettuccine Pasta — 575tk
Penne Al Arrabbiata Pasta — 435tk
Pepperoni Pizza 12" — 1095tk
Beef Kima 12" — 1145tk
Taco Chicken — 545tk

And guys, I still can’t get over that Alfredo pasta! After taking literally one bite, I just said, “No more pictures or videos. This is too good.” I was genuinely worried that if we took too long, it would get cold and we wouldn’t get to enjoy it the same way.

And yeah… we finished the whole thing in probably 2 minutes.

The appetizers were pretty good too, although I feel the Calamari Fritti could use a little improvement.

The Penne Al Arrabbiata was another favourite. For the pizzas, we tried the Beef Kima and Taco Chicken. The toppings and cheese were really well done, but I personally liked the Beef Kima more. It was creamy and had mushrooms. Basically two things I’m always going to say yes to!

Also, if you’re looking for a place to host an event, get-together, or celebrate something with your people, they have space for that too.

There are some kinds of friends or colleagues who will continuously poke you for a treat, but with a demand to go somewhere good. A regular place, they will never accept. So, that kind of situation you can deal with in this amazing-looking place.

This place has a beautiful interior set-up. It's truly so good, and the ambience is also very nice. They have their regular menu, and they also have 4 different types of lunch platters, which I find quite reasonable and presentable. You can quietly sit with your friend or colleague, have lunch in a good-looking place, and enjoy it with a reasonable expense.

We had:
Beef Oyster - 400tk
Chicken Cashew Nut - 350tk
Chicken Green Curry - 350tk
Chicken Red Curry - 350tk
Additional Vegetables - 50tk
Mango Sticky Rice with Coconut Ice Cream - 385tk

If you're at this place, I will highly recommend you to try the mango sticky rice, because it was too good and delicious. I was genuinely surprised after having it. It was that good! Also, the fried rice they are providing is so flavourful and goes perfectly with the curries. You can also add a different style of vegetable curry by adding only 50tk more and make the platter more fulfilling.

The curries were good. My friends loved them. But I prefer a bit of dry-type curries with fried rice, so I enjoyed the Beef Oyster and Chicken Cashew Nut more.

Also, I feel like it's even a bit better than a restaurant that looks similar in type, though they are the older one.

Who said healthy meals are boring?

BalanceBox recently launched 6 different meal bowls and I got to try 4 of them and honestly loved almost all of them. Whether you’re having it for lunch or dinner one bowl is enough to keep you full while still having a healthy meal.

We had:

Ground Beef Greek Salad with Hummus Bowl – 750Tk
Cajun Fish Bowl – 680Tk
Grilled Chicken Garden Salad Bowl – 580Tk
Lemon Herb Grilled Chicken & Quinoa Salad Bowl – 680Tk

Each bowl had its own taste and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. At first I wasn’t sure how all the ingredients would come together but everything worked really well.

The Ground Beef Greek Salad was my favorite. The flavors were quite unique but somehow everything just worked.

The Cajun Fish Bowl was another hit. The fish was cooked really well and with that little squeeze of lemon it just took the whole thing to another level.

The Lemon Herb Grilled Chicken & Quinoa Salad Bowl was also really good. The Grilled Chicken Garden Salad Bowl felt a little simpler and comparatively less flavorful but once I added the sauce they provided it completely changed the game.

If you’re looking for something healthy but don’t want to compromise on taste definitely give these a try!

Have you tried Teriyaki’s newly added items yet?

Went to one of my favorite places with friends on Friday to hang out and enjoy some of our usual favorites. But after seeing the new additions to their menu, we decided to try a mix of old favorites and some new dishes too.

So we had:

Appetizers
Prawn Tempura – Tk 690
Steamed Wonton with Minced Chicken Gravy – Tk 650
Chicken Nanban – Tk 510
Mixed Seafood Soup with Coconut Milk – Tk 690

Sushi
Tuna Maki Roll – Tk 699
Teriyaki Special Prawn Roll – Tk 750

Mains & Curries
Seafood Fried Rice – Tk 540
Nagasaki Fried Rice – Tk 499
Chicken with Red Curry Sauce – Tk 650
Chicken with Cashew Nut Curry – Tk 750
Zesty Lime Beef Curry – Tk 690
Schezwan Chili Fish Curry – Tk 650

Drinks & Dessert
Thai Iced Boba Milk Tea – Tk 450
Cinderella – Tk 330
Coconut Ice Cream – Tk 250

We started with the Prawn Tempura, Steamed Wonton with Minced Chicken Gravy, Chicken Nanban and Mixed Seafood Soup with Coconut Milk. The Steamed Wonton and Seafood Soup were definitely our favorites this time, although their Nanban is still one of my personal favorites.

For sushi, we had the Tuna Maki Roll and their Teriyaki Special Prawn Roll. The prawn roll was as good as always and the Tuna Maki was also pretty good.

For the mains, the Seafood Fried Rice was a standout. Honestly, it’s flavorful and packed with seafood enough that you don’t really need a curry with it. The Nagasaki Fried Rice is a great choice if you like a little extra spice.

We also tried four different curries with the rice. My top picks were the Zesty Lime Beef Curry and Schezwan Chili Fish Curry. Both went so well with the rice. The Chicken with Red Curry Sauce and Chicken with Cashew Nut Curry were good too.

The curry portions are mentioned as 1:2, but they were more than enough and can easily be shared by three people.

For drinks, the Thai Iced Boba Milk Tea felt a little basic this time, but the Cinderella was just as good as before.

And the Coconut Ice Cream was such a surprise! I honestly didn’t expect it to be this flavorful. It was dense, milky and so coconutty. Definitely recommend ending your meal with this.

Last weekend, me and my cousin went to BRIO: Italian Restaurant to try their newly launched Gelato and Sorbet. And no, this time it wasn’t a sudden plan like our last visit. We decided to visit after seeing their post on social media.
They have 3 types of Sorbet and 5 types of Gelato and we tried almost all of them.

Sorbet:
Mango
Lychee & Earl Grey Tea

Gelato:
Stracciatella
Chocolate
Biscoff

Among the sorbets, both me and my cousin loved the Mango the most. It was so GOOD! Honestly, it tasted even better than a good mango.
My cousin is not a fan of lychee, while I actually love it but somehow I didn’t enjoy the Lychee & Earl Grey Sorbet that much. Maybe the lychee and Earl Grey combination just didn’t go perfectly with the sorbet texture for me.

From the Gelato, we loved all three. The Stracciatella tasted like a creamy vanilla flavor with chocolate chips mixed in. And Biscoff one was simply good. The Biscoff flavor went perfectly with the creamy gelato.

But before choosing the Chocolate Gelato, I’d say if you’re not a fan of strong dark chocolate flavor, you might want to skip it. The chocolate flavor is quite intense. But the texture was probably the best among all the flavors! It was creamy, smooth and silky at the same time.

And about the price, I’d say it’s actually quite reasonable. Compared to other places, I feel like Brio is charging less for the quality. Overall, definitely worth trying!

Most popular restaurant in Khilgaon

If you’ve been to Khilgaon, you know Apon Coffee House is famous for its good and affordable drinks, especially their signature cold coffee. This time we tried some snacks and Indian thalis from them.

What we ordered:

Raj Kachori – 150tk
Papri Chaat – 150tk
Chicken Masala Dosa – 260tk
Pav Bhaji – 200tk
Chole Bhature – 200tk
Club Sandwich – 220tk

Drinks:
Chocolate Cold Coffee – 100tk
Mango Smoothie – 120tk
Sweet Lassi – 100tk

The Raj Kachori and Papri Chaat were creamy, maybe a bit too creamy because of the yoghurt. They were also cold, almost like straight out of the fridge! Not sure if that’s how they’re usually served. But the taste was good.

We tried three Indian thalis, and the sides for the Dosa, Pav Bhaji, and Chole Bhature were the same. They complemented the mains perfectly. The Club Sandwich was simple but tasted good.

From the drinks, the Sweet Lassi was our favourite!
