I was literally shocked when I got to know that this was the first match where Ashraful was involved in spot-fixing! 💵❌🙂

That was a match between Bangladesh and India in 2004, which Bangladesh won and made a history of winning a match for the first time at home.

In that match, Ash came to the crease when Bangladesh were two down for 26 in the 7th over. His task given by the bookie was to take Bangladesh to 60 within 15 overs. By the end of the 14th over, Bangladesh were 54/3, and then 14 runs came in the 15th over. And Ashraful succeed to satisfy bookie!

Ashraful scored 28 off 41 balls in that match, including one classical on-drive off Zaheer Khan and two sixes. Considering the situation, it was a good innings. Bangladesh eventually defeated mighty India, their first win in front of a home crowd!

It was surely a historic day for Bangladesh cricket. But for Ashraful? It marked his entry into the dark side of the game. I still can’t believe that innings was tied to spot-fixing. 🙂
