ফরিদপুর দেশের একমাত্র জেলা, যার উপজেলার চেয়ে সরকারি কলেজ বেশি।
উপজেলা ৯টি, কিন্তু সরকারি কলেজ ১৪টি।
শুধু শহরেই আছে ৪টি সরকারি কলেজ, যেখানে আশেপাশের জেলার হাজারো শিক্ষার্থী পড়াশোনা করে—
১. সরকারি রাজেন্দ্র কলেজ
২. সরকারি ইয়াসিন কলেজ
৩. সরকারি সারদা সুন্দরী মহিলা কলেজ
৪. ফরিদপুর সরকারি কলেজ
ফরিদপুরে রয়েছে দুটি মেডিকেল কলেজ—
১. ফরিদপুর মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল
২. ফরিদপুর ডায়াবেটিক অ্যাসোসিয়েশন মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল
এছাড়াও আছে ফরিদপুর শিশু হাসপাতাল এবং দক্ষিণবঙ্গের সর্ববৃহৎ সরকারি নার্সিং ট্রেনিং সেন্টার।
শিক্ষা ও প্রযুক্তিতে এগিয়ে রাখতে ফরিদপুরে রয়েছে—
১. ফরিদপুর ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজ
২. ফরিদপুর মেরিন কলেজ
৩. ফরিদপুর পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউট
৪. ফরিদপুর টেক্সটাইল কলেজ
এখানে আশেপাশের বহু জেলার শিক্ষার্থীরা পড়াশোনা করে নিজেদের ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ছে।
এবার সেনাবাহিনীর হাত ধরে ফরিদপুরে নতুন অধ্যায়ের সূচনা—
রাজবাড়ী রাস্তার মোড়ে একসঙ্গে চারটি প্রতিষ্ঠান গড়ে উঠছে, যার ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর ইতিমধ্যেই সেনাপ্রধান স্থাপন করেছেন—
১. বাংলাদেশ আর্মি প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ফরিদপুর
২. মিলিটারি কলেজিয়েট স্কুল, ফরিদপুর
৩. আর্মি মেডিকেল কলেজ ও হাসপাতাল, ফরিদপুর
৪. আর্মি নার্সিং ইনস্টিটিউট, ফরিদপুর
এই প্রকল্পগুলো ফরিদপুরের কানাইপুর এলাকায় গড়ে উঠছে,
যেগুলো পরিচালিত হবে ৫৫ পদাতিক ডিভিশনের আওতায়।
বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র নদী গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট ফরিদপুরেই অবস্থিত।
এছাড়া নির্মাণাধীন টেপা খোলা লেকপার প্রকল্প ফরিদপুরকে নতুন রূপ দেবে
যেখানে গড়ে উঠবে ইকো পার্ক, ৩ থেকে ৫ তারকা হোটেল এবং আধুনিক পর্যটন কেন্দ্র।
ফরিদপুরের ভাঙ্গায় নির্মিত হচ্ছে আন্তর্জাতিক গ্রিনউইচ মান মন্দির এবং আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটন কেন্দ্র।
তাছাড়া ফরিদপুরে রয়েছে ধান গবেষণা কেন্দ্র, পাট গবেষণা কেন্দ্র, এবং বাংলাদেশ কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধীনে একটি কৃষি কলেজ ও ইনস্টিটিউট।
এখানেই আছে পল্লীকবি জসীমউদ্দীনের বাড়ি ও স্মৃতি কমপ্লেক্স,
যেটি বাংলাদেশ সংস্কৃতি মন্ত্রণালয়ের অধীনে রক্ষিত একটি ঐতিহাসিক নিদর্শন।
ফরিদপুর আজ বাংলাদেশের ১৪তম বৃহত্তম শহর
যেখানে শিক্ষা, সংস্কৃতি, চিকিৎসা, শিল্প ও সামরিক শক্তি মিলিয়ে গড়ে উঠছে দক্ষিণবঙ্গের নতুন কেন্দ্র।
অনেক আগে থেকেইতো মাগুরা, রাজবাড়ী, শরীয়তপুর ও মাদারীপুরের ছেলেমেয়েরা পড়াশোনার জন্য ফরিদপুরে আসে।
আপনারা জানেন কিনা জানিনা, শরীয়তপুর, মাদারীপুর, রাজবাড়ি, গোপালগঞ্জ, ফরিদপুর - এই ৫ জেলার জমিজমার কাজ এখনও নিয়ন্ত্রণ হয় ফরিদপুর থেকে, সেই ব্রিটিশ আমল থেকেই এখন পর্যন্ত।
With due respect, রাজেন্দ্র কলেজ সহ ফরিদপুরের সকল সরকারি কলেজ গুলোর দিকে তাকালেই বুঝবেন, আশেপাশের জেলার কত স্টুডেন্ট ফরিদপুরে পড়াশোনা করে। যেটা অবশ্যই ভালো দিক।
আপনি মানেন বা না মানেন, ব্রিটিশ আমল থেকেই এই অঞ্চল তথা জেলাগুলো চিকিৎসা থেকে শুরু করে শিক্ষা, শপিং সবকিছুই ফরিদপুরকেন্দ্রীক।
আমরা কেন ফরিদপুরকে বিভাগ চাই??
ফরিদপুর বিভাগ হলে কালক্রমে এই অঞ্চলে একটা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হবে, সিটি কর্পোরেশন হবে, ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল জোন হবে, কর্মসংস্থান বাড়বে। এখনই না হলেও, ধীরে ধীরে হবে। আমরা এই অবকাঠামোগত উন্নয়নের স্বার্থে বিভাগ চাই।
তাই আসুন, যার যার অবস্থান থেকে জোর গলায় আওয়াজ তুলি "ফরিদপুর নামেই বিভাগ চাই এবং দ্রুত বাস্তবায়ন চাই"।

Faridpur is the only district in the country that has more government colleges than upazilas.
There are 9 upazilas, but 14 government colleges.
There are 4 government colleges in the city alone, where thousands of students from surrounding districts study—
1. Government Rajendra College
2. Government Yasin College
3. Government Sarada Sundari Women's College
4. Faridpur Government College
There are two medical colleges in Faridpur—
1. Faridpur Medical College Hospital
2. Faridpur Diabetic Association Medical College Hospital
There is also Faridpur Children's Hospital and the largest government nursing training center in South Bengal.
To keep ahead in education and technology, Faridpur has—
1. Faridpur Engineering College
2. Faridpur Marine College
3. Faridpur Polytechnic Institute
4. Faridpur Textile College
Students from many surrounding districts are studying here and building their future.
This time, a new chapter is being started in Faridpur with the help of the army—
Four institutions are being built together at the intersection of Rajbari Road, the foundation stone of which has already been laid by the army chief—
1. Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology, Faridpur
2. Military Collegiate School, Faridpur
3. Army Medical College and Hospital, Faridpur
4. Army Nursing Institute, Faridpur
These projects are being built in the Kanaipur area of Faridpur,
which will be operated under the 55th Infantry Division.
Bangladesh's only river research institute is located in Faridpur.
In addition, the under-construction Tepa Khola Lekpar project will give a new look to Faridpur,
where an eco park, 3 to 5 star hotels and a modern tourist center will be built.
An international Greenwich Mean Time temple and an international tourist center are being built in Bhanga, Faridpur.
In addition, Faridpur has a rice research center, a jute research center, and an agricultural college and institute under the Bangladesh Agricultural University.
Here is the house and memorial complex of the poet Jasimuddin,
which is a historical monument under the Bangladesh Ministry of Culture.
Faridpur is today the 14th largest city in Bangladesh
where a new center of South Bengal is being developed by combining education, culture, medicine, industry and military power.
Since a long time ago, children from Magura, Rajbari, Shariatpur and Madaripur have been coming to Faridpur for their studies.
I don't know if you know, the land management of these 5 districts - Shariatpur, Madaripur, Rajbari, Gopalganj, Faridpur - is still controlled from Faridpur, from the British period until now.
With due respect, if you look at all the government colleges in Faridpur, including Rajendra College, you will understand how many students from the surrounding districts study in Faridpur. Which is definitely a good thing.
Whether you believe it or not, since the British era, this region and districts have been Faridpur-centric, from medicine to education to shopping.
Why do we want Faridpur to be a division??
If Faridpur is a division, over time there will be a university in this region, a city corporation, an industrial zone, and employment will increase. If not now, then it will happen gradually. We want the division for the sake of this infrastructural development.
So, let's raise our voices loudly from our respective positions, "We want a division in the name of Faridpur and we want its implementation quickly".
