Bryson got out of bed five times. Five. Each step—slow, careful—was a victory. Each step whispered, I’m still fighting.

He ate today. Rice, beans, a Taco Bell steak quesadilla. Ordinary, yet extraordinary. Watching him eat, sip water, breathe steadily, it felt like glimpses of the life we’d known before hospitals and treatments.

Morning labs brought relief: no transfusions needed. The chest tube output was tiny. Small numbers, big hope. Tomorrow, radiation awaits, a gamble we face with bated breath.

Family surrounded him—grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his big brother. Their love turned the hospital room into a sanctuary. Every hug, every whispered encouragement, every hand held, became scaffolding holding us up.

Parenthood didn’t prepare us for this. But here, rice and beans, five trips to the bathroom, steady oxygen, and quiet laughter define “good.” Fear and gratitude coexist, heartbreak and hope entwine.

Today was good. Tomorrow is uncertain. But today, hope is tangible—in bites of food, in family’s presence, in Bryson’s quiet strength.
