জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়া আশা করেছিল ড. ইউনূস নেতৃত্বাধীন ইন্টেরিম সরকার শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের ‘আপন’ মানুষদের অপরাধ থেকে পার পাইয়ে দেয়ার প্রথায় চ্ছেদ ঘটাবে। এমনকি ইন্টেরিম সরকারকে তার ভূমিকা মনে করিয়ে দেয়ার জন্য জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়া বসুন্ধরা সিটি শপিং কমপ্লেক্স এর সামনে এই ব্যানারটি নিয়ে দাঁড়ায় ১৩ আগস্ট ২০২৪:
হাসিনার শাসনামলে ‘আপন’ মানুষ অপরাধ করলে পার পাইয়ে দেয়া হতো
অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারামলে মুনিয়া হত্যার বিচার নিশ্চই হবে?
তার কিছু দিন পর (২৫ আগস্ট ২০২৪), গণমাধ্যম সূত্রে জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়া জানতে পারে যে এনবিআরের গোয়েন্দারা (বিএফআইইউ, সিআইসি) স্বৈরাচারী সরকারের ঘনিষ্ঠ প্রভাবশালী ব্যবসায়ী যথা, এস আলম, ওরিয়ন, বসুন্ধরা, সামিট, নাসা ও বেক্সিমকো কোম্পানির মালিক ও তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের বিরুদ্ধে আর্থিক অনিয়মের তদন্ত শুরু করেছে। এই সিদ্ধান্তকে সাধুবাদ জানিয়ে জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়া বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের এমডি সায়েম সোবহান আনভীরের বিরুদ্ধে যে অন্য একটি গুরুতর মামলা ইতোমধ্যেই আছে যার আপাত নিষ্পত্তি নিয়ে জনমনে প্রশ্ন ও ক্ষোভ রয়েছে, তার প্রতি সকলের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে। আনভীরের বিরুদ্ধে তার প্রেমিক কলেজছাত্রী মুনিয়াকে ধর্ষণ ও হত্যা মামলা করা হয় ২০২১ সালে, কিন্তু শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত তদন্তকারী এবং বিচারব্যবস্থার কারণে মুনিয়ার মৃত্যুর সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ তদন্ত হয়নি। মামলার প্রধান আসামী হওয়া সত্ত্বেও পুলিশ ও পিবিআই স্ব স্ব তদন্ত প্রতিবেদনে আনভীরকে গ্রেপ্তার ও জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ ছাড়াই অভিযোগ থেকে দায়মুক্তি প্রদান করে।
সেই পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে, জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়া দাবি করে যে,
(১) আনভীরের বিরুদ্ধে ধর্ষণ ও হত্যা মামলার পুনঃতদন্ত করা হোক।
(২) যেই উর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাদের আদেশে জনগণের ট্যাক্সের টাকায় অনুষ্ঠিত পরপর দুটো তদন্ত (গুলশান থানা পুলিশ, পিবিআই) ও বিচারকার্য বিনষ্ট হয়েছে, তাদের চিহ্নিত করে বিচারের আওতায় আনা হোক।
কিন্তু ৬-৭ মাস পর দেখা গেল যে আনভীরের বিরুদ্ধে ধর্ষণ ও হত্যার মতো গুরুতর অভিযোগকে পাশ কাটিয়ে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক ঋণখেলাপী বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপকে পুনরায় জনগণের টাকা আত্মসাৎ করার সুযোগ করে দেয়। জাস্টিস ফর মুনিয়ার আপত্তির জায়গা হলো: শেখ হাসিনার শাসনামলে ধনী শ্রেণীর অনিয়ম, দুর্নীতি ও স্বেচ্ছাচারিতা স্রেফ অর্থনীতির পরিমণ্ডলে সীমিত ছিল না, তার আছর পড়েছিল সামাজিক জীবনেও। বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপকে ঋণ পুনঃতফসিলের সুবিধা দেশের নারী (ও পুরুষ)দের এই বার্তাই দিয়েছে যে, পুরুষের বিত্তবৈভব থাকলে সে ধর্ষণ ও হত্যা করেও পার পেয়ে যাবে। জনগণের টাকায় চলা রাষ্ট্রের প্রতিষ্ঠান ভুক্তভোগী না, আক্রমণকারীর পক্ষে।
ইন্টেরিম সরকারের আমলানামায় এটি লেখা থাকবে। আমরা ভুলব না, ভুলতে দিব না।

Justice for Munia had expected that the Interim Govt headed by Dr Yunus would make a break from Sheikh Hasina government’s practice of covering up the crimes of the rich and the powerful. As a matter of fact, Justice for Munia had reminded the new government of its role by organising a flash protest in front of Bashundhara City Shopping Complex on 13 August 2024 with a banner saying,
‘One’s own’ criminals went scotfree during Hasina regime
But surely, the Interim Govt will try Munia’s killers?
Justice for Munia learnt from news reports on 25th August 2024 that the intelligence agencies of the NBR (National Board of Revenue), namely, BFIU, CIC, had begun investigating financial irregularities of top businesspeople who had been close to the previous regime, namely, the owners and family members of S Alam, Orion, Bashundhara, Summit, Nasa and Beximco. While welcoming this decision, Justice for Munia reminded all that the MD of Bashundhara Group had another set of grave allegations against him, the apparent resolution of which had angered the public and raised many questions. Anvir was accused of ra**ng and murdering his lover, Mosarat Jahan Munia, a college student, in 2021. The case had not been fairly and properly investigated, as is evident in two successive investigations (Gulshan Police, later, PBI) clearing Anvir of all charges without even arresting and interrogating him. The reports had been accepted by the courts, proving yet again that not only are the law enforcement agencies corrupt, but equally so, is the judicial system.
In this light, Justice for Munia demanded that,
(1) the r**e and murder case against Anvir be reinvestigated
(2) the higher-ups on whose orders the past two investigations and judicial proceedings, conducted with taxpayers’ money, had been wasted must be identified, and they too, should be brought to the book.
But 6-7 months later, it became apparent that the Interim Govt too, was side-stepping the serious allegations of r**e and murder, and that, despite being bank defaulters, the Bangladesh Bank had agreed to reschedule Bashundhara’s defaulted loans. In other words, the Bank had agreed to the further misappropriation of public money! Justice for Munia’s serious reservations lie in the fact that during the Sheikh Hasina regime, irregularities, corruption and wilful behaviour without having to face any consequences was not confined to the financial sector alone, its effects were also felt in the social sphere. Bangladesh Bank’s decision to allow Bashundhara to reschedule its defaulted loans can only give this message to women (and men) of Bangladesh: wealthy men will be allowed to get away with r**e and murder. Further, that, state institutions who run on taxpayer’s money will side with the perpetrator, not the victim.
The Interim Govt’s failure to arrest Anvir will be noted in its Record of Deeds. We will never forget, we won’t let anyone forget.
