একজন মানুষ যদি জানতো, তার মৃত্যুর পর কত দ্রুত সবাই তাকে ভুলে যাবে,সে আর কাউকে সন্তুষ্ট করার পেছনে না পড়ে

একমাত্র তার রবকে খুশি করার জন্যই উঠে পড়ে লেগে যেতো।

ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণ
‘No’ এবং ‘Not’ এর ব্যবহার
‘No’ এবং ‘Not’ এই দুটো শব্দ ‘না’ বোধক অর্থ বা নেতিবাচক অর্থ বোঝাতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
‘No’ এর ব্যবহার:
******Yes/No Questions এর ক্ষেত্রে ‘No’ ব্যবহার করতে হবে
উদাহারণ:
Did you finish your homework?
No, I didn’t finish my homework.
এই ধরণের ক্ষেত্রে উত্তর দেবার সময়ে ‘No’ ব্যবহার করা হয়।
**** আর্টিকেল ছাড়া Noun এর আগে ‘No’ বসবে
এই বাক্যগুলো দেখুন-
He has no money in his pocket.
There is no place for us to go tonight.
There are no stores open today.
There is no food in the refrigerator.
খেয়াল করলে দেখা যাবে যে এই বাক্য গুলো দিয়ে ‘কোন কিছু নেই’ বা ‘একদম নেই’ এই অর্থ প্রকাশ পাচ্ছে। এখানে ‘money’ ‘place’ ‘stores’ ‘food’ এগুলো হচ্ছে Noun এবং এদের আগে কোন Articleবসে নি।
**** Noun এর আগে Adjective বসলে সেখানে ‘No’ বসবে-
Michael Jordan has no worthy opponents.
(মাইকেল জর্ডানের কোন যোগ্য প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী নেই। )
এই বাক্যটাতে ‘worthy’ হচ্ছে Adjective এবং ‘opponents’হচ্ছে Noun। এখানে Noun এর আগে Adjectiveআছে তাই ‘No’ বসেছে।
একই ভাবে-
There is no strong argument in this case.
I checked the website, but there are no red dresses.
There were no late trains today.
The school has no bad teachers.
এই বাক্য গুলো দিয়ে ‘কোন কিছু নেই’ বা ‘একদম নেই’ এই অর্থ প্রকাশ পাচ্ছে এবং এই ক্ষেত্রে ‘No’ ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে।
**** Verbal Noun এর আগে ‘No’ বসে।
Verbal Noun হচ্ছে সেই Nounযেটা Verb থেকে উৎপন্ন কিন্তু এর মধ্যে Verbএর কোন গুণাবলী নেই।
উদাহারণ:
It was a lovely building.
The money will fund the building of a bridge.
এখানে প্রথম বাক্যটাতে building শব্দটা একটা Noun। এখন building শব্দটাকে ভাঙলে পাওয়া যায় ‘Build’ এবং ‘ing’। ‘Build’ একটি Verbযার অর্থ হচ্ছে কোন কিছু তৈরি করা। কিন্তু এই বাক্যটাতে যদি building শব্দটাতে Verb এর কোন গুণাবলীই নেই। এই জন্যে এটি Verbal Noun।
উদাহারণ:
No smoking.
No playing in the street!
No texting in the class! (ক্লাস চলাকালীন সময়ে মোবাইল ফোন থেকে কোন প্রকার টেক্সট মেসেজ আদান-প্রদান করা যাবে না।)
‘Not’ এর ব্যবহার:
**** বাক্যে কোন Noun এর আগে যখন Article বসে তখন সেই Noun এর আগে ‘Not’ ব্যবহার করা হয়-
The virus is not the cause of disease
