🏔️ Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja — A Man Who Taught Us That Nothing Is Impossible
“Nothing is impossible.”
These simple words became closely associated with Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja, a man who dared to dream far beyond what most people thought was possible.
Nims Dai became world-famous through his extraordinary “Project Possible”—an ambitious mission to climb all 14 of the world's mountains above 8,000 metres. While the previous record was almost eight years, Nims completed the challenge in just 189 days—six months and six days.
But his greatest achievement was perhaps not the number of mountains he climbed. It was the mindset behind the journey.
He believed that with determination, preparation and a positive attitude, people could achieve things that others might consider impossible. His own website describes his approach as: “Everything in life is possible armed only with a determined approach and positive mindset.”
🌟 His final mountain
In July 2026, Nims Dai returned to Broad Peak (8,051 m) in Pakistan, leading an expedition. Tragically, an avalanche struck the team, and Nims Dai lost his life along with other climbers. His death was confirmed in early August, bringing a heartbreaking end to the life of one of the most remarkable figures in modern mountaineering.
Yet his story does not have to end with tragedy.

Young people do not need to climb mountains to follow his example. Their “mountains” can be learning English, studying mathematics, becoming a good reader, playing a sport, helping others, or achieving a dream.
His story teaches us:
