Located in the lowlands of south-central Nepal, Chitwan National Park is one of the country’s most renowned wildlife sanctuaries. Established in 1973, the park covers an area of approximately 932 square kilometres.

Chitwan is home to the greater one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, leopard, sloth bear, various species of deer, and elephants. Its rivers and wetlands are inhabited by the rare gharial and crocodiles. One of Chitwan’s greatest attractions is its remarkable diversity of birdlife, with more than 600 species of birds recorded, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.

With jungle safaris, river crossings, wildlife observation, and birdwatching, Chitwan is one of Nepal’s most fascinating destinations for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.

Remembering Aalokchitracharjo Manzoor Alam Beg

Today we remember the memory of the visionary Manzoor Alam Beg (1931-1998) who laid the very foundation of the art and discipline of photography in Bangladesh. He is fondly remembered as "Beg Sir" and his life's work made it an education and an art of creative expression.

He started the Begart Institute of Photography in 1960, the first photographic study center in the country, and the Bangladesh Photographic Society in 1976, bringing together photographers all around the country to study, exhibit and develop themselves. Apart from these institutions, he was an ardent teacher, prolific writer and international juror who brought the voice of Bangladesh photography to the world.

But his lasting legacy is in the generations of photographers who were able to learn from him, be inspired by him and, most importantly, be patient and guided by him. He received the Ekushey Padak in 2007 and his legacy continues to be an integral part of Bangladesh's photography community.
