Long-term use of high heels can cause back pain, stiff calf muscles, and other physical harm — thus harming the body Allah has entrusted to her.

Health experts have warned that excessive meat consumption during the hot summer months may pose serious health risks. They strongly recommend limiting meat intake to two or three pieces at a time, especially in this extreme heat.

According to nutritionists, consuming large quantities of red meat can slow down the body's metabolism. This generates extra heat inside the body, increasing the risk of dehydration, acidity, bloating, high blood pressure, and even heatstroke.

Avoid Chilled Fridge Water, Opt for Pure Drinking Water

Doctors emphasize the importance of drinking plenty of pure water to stay hydrated in this weather. However, they caution against consuming ice-cold water directly from the refrigerator. Fridge-chilled water can disrupt digestion and may cause throat irritation, cough, or even sore throat.

Instead, experts suggest drinking boiled or filtered water at normal room temperature, especially after meals such as Iftar or Sehri during Ramadan.

Resort in Rajnagar Shut Down Indefinitely over Allegations of Immoral Activities

Rajnagar, Moulvibazar, June 9, 2024:
Authorities have indefinitely shut down the ‘Rajnagar Resort & Coffee House’ in Tengra Bazar, Ilashpur village of Rajnagar Upazila, following allegations of immoral activities.

On June 8, during the Eid holidays, a group of tourists visiting the resort recorded a video that later went viral on social media. The footage showed several women inside the staff quarters of the resort, which raised public suspicion.

The tourists went live on Facebook, questioning the resort staff about the situation. In response, the staff allegedly locked the room from the outside with the women inside. This led to a heated exchange between the tourists and resort staff, broadcast live on social media.

The video sparked outrage among locals and community leaders, who immediately demanded the closure of the resort. Later that night, Rajnagar police arrived and sealed off the premises indefinitely.

Local residents claim that immoral activities had been taking place at the resort for a long time. Despite repeated complaints, no action had been taken until now. The viral video served as undeniable evidence, fueling public anger.

Residents expressed concern that such incidents disrupt the area's peaceful environment. They appreciated the swift action taken by law enforcement but urged for stricter measures to prevent such activities in the future.

The resort owner, Ankar Mia (40), a resident of Salna village under Rajnagar police station, denied any wrongdoing. He assured that such incidents would not occur again and expressed fear over threats from angry locals. He has sought legal protection for himself and his property.

Passenger Harassment by CNG Syndicates: A Local Incident or a Nationwide Problem?

Kamalganj, Moulvibazar:
A recent incident of alleged passenger harassment at the Aturerghor Bazar CNG stand in Rahimpur Union under Kamalganj upazila has sparked widespread discussion about the unchecked dominance of certain auto-rickshaw (CNG) syndicates across the country.

According to local residents and daily commuters, this is not an isolated incident. Similar situations are reportedly common in various parts of Bangladesh, where passengers using CNG auto-rickshaws for personal or professional travel often face undue obstruction and harassment. The core complaint is that these syndicates do not allow CNGs to leave the stand unless all five passenger seats are filled. Moreover, passengers are prohibited from choosing any CNG other than those assigned by the syndicate.

If a passenger opts for a different vehicle, they are often subjected to verbal abuse, intimidation, and in some cases even physical threats. Drivers who dare to defy the syndicate by picking up such passengers also face pressure and mistreatment from fellow drivers. As a result, passengers—especially the elderly, women, students, and those unfamiliar with the locality—are left feeling helpless.

This problematic practice severely affects school and college-going students, as well as office workers, who are sometimes forced to wait for unreasonably long periods despite being in a hurry to reach their destinations on time. The question remains: why should passengers with pressing needs be compelled to wait until all seats are filled, even when willing to pay the full fare?

While not all drivers or stands indulge in such behavior, reports indicate that the issue is far from rare. Of particular concern is the treatment of female students, who sometimes experience rude remarks and suggestive comments from certain ill-mannered drivers—a matter that demands urgent attention to ensure harassment-free travel for women.

The recent incident at Aturerghor Bazar stands as an alarming example. When a passenger tried to board a different CNG, a heated argument broke out, reportedly leading to physical assault that left the victim injured. Such actions are a clear violation of the individual's right to freedom of movement and are punishable under the country's legal framework.

Locals argue that if any misconduct had indeed occurred on the passenger’s part, it could have been resolved peacefully by informing the stand’s president or secretary. But taking the law into one’s own hands, especially resorting to violence, is both condemnable and illegal.

Democracy Requires Accountability Alongside Rights, Says BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that democracy is not only about rights and entitlements, but also about responsibility and accountability to the nation and its people.

"As part of the democratic struggle, we demand our rights, fair elections, and security," he stated. "But in order to institutionalize democracy, we must also remain conscious of our duties towards the country and its citizens. Only by fulfilling these responsibilities can democracy achieve its true institutional form."

Expressing concern over the decline in the country's education standards despite numerous movements, revolutions, and uprisings, Alamgir emphasized the need for rebuilding the nation through education. "If we want to reconstruct this nation, we must properly educate our students so that they can prove their competence in all sectors," he added.

Referring to the present world as "highly competitive," he warned that without adapting to technological advancements, the country risks falling behind. "The global race is now tougher than ever. If we fail to keep pace with technology, we will be left behind," he said.
