🔥 My Journey in Bhasantek — A Project That Touched My Soul 💛
On 18 May 2025, a massive fire tore through the Bhasantek Gudaraghat slum, leaving hundreds of families homeless. From that moment, we came together to rebuild hope.
I had the privilege to be part of Project Alert B061, and from start to finish, here’s what I did — day by day, step by step:
🗓️ 23 May – Officially joined the project and visited the fire-affected area to understand the real situation on the ground.
🗓️ 24 May – Attended orientation and team capacity-building sessions to prepare for effective fieldwork.
🗓️ 25–27 May – Identified affected families, collected and verified data, and finalized the list of beneficiaries.
🗓️ 28 May – Distributed aid cards to the selected families ahead of relief distribution.
🗓️ 29 May – Helped organize and carry out distribution of aid materials to 250 families in a respectful and heartfelt event.
🗓️ 2–4 June – Collected detailed information on students affected by the fire to support their educational recovery.
🗓️ 5–14 June – Eid-ul-Adha holidays. Took a break but stayed mentally connected to the work ahead.
🗓️ 15–19 June – Conducted awareness sessions on disaster survival, dengue prevention, safe water, and hygiene practices.
🗓️ 21–22 June – Wrote powerful case stories of survivors, documenting their life before and after the fire.
🗓️ 23 June – Launched construction work to rebuild 8 inner roads and the main entrance of the slum.
🗓️ 25 June – Distributed ID cards to students so they could receive essential supplies in the next phase.
🗓️ 26 June – Helped distribute gift kits to students in a joyful event with community members and leaders present.
🗓️ 27–28 June – Conducted Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to collect feedback from families using a mobile app.
🗓️ 29 June – The road construction was completed — a literal path to recovery for the community.
🗓️ 30 June – Visited the slum again to observe whether people were using the materials we had distributed.
🗓️ 1 July – Repaired 2 water houses and installed new motors to restore access to safe, clean water.
🗓️ 3 July – Attended our official project closing ceremony with Caritas, Start Fund, local leaders, and community members.
🗓️ 7 July – Final project wrap-up with documentation and reporting, marking the end of an incredible journey.
💭 This experience was more than just a project — it was a mission filled with meaning.
I’ve learned, grown, and felt deeply connected to the people we served. I’m proud and truly grateful to have been part of this beautiful initiative.
When you serve people with heart, the reward is beyond words.
